Monk
Base Class: Monk

One of the great multiversal constants is that every universe contains, by some fluke, a Mrs Marietta Cosmopilite. Less common are the monks who come to learn of her great wisdoms.

Monks who follow the Way of Mrs Cosmopilite are almost always unique within their order; they are the ones with a deeper understanding than their peers, and do not seek enlightenment within the monastery, but the perplexity of the wider world, knowing that if they can find the light of truth out there, they can find it anywhere.

It is very rare to find more than one monk in any universe who is a student of this Way. After all, as the Way itself teaches, “enough is enough.”

Don’t You Have Anything Better to Do?

Students of this Way are intensely aware of the preciousness of each action, and learn how to minutely bend the flow of time around themselves, resetting it just enough to learn from a single mistake.

In practice this works exactly the same as the Lucky feat, though rather than having a set number of uses per day, the Monk must simply spend a Ki point for each use.

It’s Amazing What You See If You Keep Your Eyes Open

Students of the Way of Mrs Cosmopilite know, and are able to exploit, the fact that most creatures simply do not pay attention to the world around them. The Monks of this Way learn to hide in plain sight; specifically, they use part of a well-established but almost unknown urban camouflage technique: no-one notices a sweeper.

If the Monk is using a broom, they can add half their Monk level (rounded down) to all Stealth rolls, to represent the fact that even if their presence is observed, it is not truly seen.

Every Second Counts

Students of this Way are taught the preciousness of every second, and how to make it count. By 6th Level they are already aware of the basic principles of time manipulation, but here it becomes more broadly useful as they learn to slice time and appear to be moving faster than those around them.

The Monk can cast the spell Haste, with no components, on themselves as a bonus action, at a cost of 2 Ki points.

Enough is Enough

At 11th level, a Monk of the Way of Mrs Cosmopilite has learned how to slice time while fighting, allowing them to launch myriad attacks whilst appearing to stand still as the attacks come from their time-compressed actions.

The Monk can now ignore limitations on how many Ki points may be spent on Flurry of Blows in a single round as time-compressed attacks seemingly come out of nowhere.

I’ve Got a Feeling in My Water

By 17th level, students of the Way of Mrs Cosmopilite are very aware of both the flow of time and their own instincts, allowing their knowledge of the former to stretch into the latter.

In practice this means that the Monk can spend 10 Ki points to cast the spell Foresight on themselves with no components, allowing their intuition the ability to change their future in myriad small ways.
