Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

The Beast Lords are a class of Pseudo-Deities that represent the perfect example of any number of animals on the Material Plane (ex: Lizard Lord, Hawk Lord, Mouse Lord). Rather than being born with these powers however, the title of Beast Lord is gifted when the time of the previous is ending, given to one who can carry on the powerful bestial legacy. This leads to a long chain of experience across the milennia, and even the possibility for Deification with enough of a grown presence, such as the Cat Lord becoming a God of the Tabaxi.

The interactions between a Beast Lord and their Warlock is less of a traditional Patron interaction, as rather than creating a powerful servant, these Patrons are typically attempting to train someone to take their place.

Beast Lord's Sensitivity

Starting at the 1st level, you can add your Charisma modifier to your Animal Handling skill checks. Also, you can communicate and understand any creature of Type-Beast as long as you are within 10ft of it. Wild beast creatures remain neutral to you unless provoked first.

Bestial Call

At the 1st level, you gain a number of Bestial Call charges equal to your Warlock Level. As a bonus action, you can expend one or more charges and summon a creature of the Beast type with CR equal to the changes expended. In case of summoning beasts with CR lower than 1, you can summon 2 per charge used. The maximum CR of beasts summoned this way is equal to your proficiency bonus.

  • You can only command a number of beasts equal to twice your proficiency bonus in this way, while any excess summons are left under the DMs control, possibly turning hostile against you.
  • You can expend warlock pact slots to regain a number of charges equal to the level of the pact slot used.
  • Beasts summoned this way last one hour before they return to their respective planes.

These charges are replenished on a long rest.

Aspect of the Beast Lord

Starting at the 6th level, the Mythical nature of your patron seeps into you. You can effectively embody an Aspect as listed below.

You can have one active Aspect at a time and switch between them during a short rest. You can maintain two aspects at a time when you reach the 10th.

In addition, all your summoned beasts attacks are considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistances.

Aspect of Authority

At the start of its turn, beasts you summon can mark a creature it can see as an action and automatically know its location, even if they were to hide. If the beast remains within 5ft of the marked creature, they can impose disadvantage on saving throws for warlock spells cast with your warlock pact slots.

Aspect of Nature

Each beast creature of your choice within 30ft of you regains 1 Hit point every minute and you have advantage on Animal Handling checks made against non hostile beasts.

Aspect of the Sun

You make initiative rolls with advantage.

Scion of the Beast Lord

At the 10th level, your bestial nature blossoms. The Aspects in your 6th level feature evolve to provide you with the following additional bonuses

Dominion

Your summoned beasts can add your Charisma modifier to their damage rolls and they gain the Pack Tactics feature.

Lifebringer

Once per short rest you can sacrifice a number of Hit points (non-reducible necrotic) equal to your warlock level in exchange for a Hit Point pool equal to sacrificed Hit Point times three. This pool can be distributed among your beasts within 30ft upto half your warlock level, one at a time as a bonus action.

Sunseeker

You make Wisdom(Perception) checks with advantage and can bond with a nearby beast as a bonus action. You may choose to inherit its senses and perceive your surroundings as it does for a minute.

Mantle of the Beast Lord

As a worthy successor to the Beast Lord’s name, you now possess the strength to bear the full might of its power. At the 14th level, you can bestow a creature with a number of temporary Hit Points equal to your Warlock level when summoned. In addition, as a bonus action, you inherit the might of your Patron and gain the following benefits for a minute.

  • The CR cap for the creatures you can summon increases by 2.

  • The time limit for the beasts you summon is extended to a short rest. However, they still cannot attune to magic items of any kind.
