Path of Pirate

The Path of the Pirate embodies the daring and ruthless spirit of swashbuckling adventurers of the high seas, the boundless skies, and the treacherous marshes. Pirates of this path channel their rage into audacious acts of plunder, navigating through challenging terrain with ease, mastering the art of melee combat, and commanding spectral crews or other supernatural powers. Each pirate archetype offers a unique approach to piracy, be it naval combat, aerial raids, stealthy marsh ambushes, treasure hunting, or mystical connections to the afterlife. Whether aboard a ship, sailing the skies, or lurking in the murky marshes, these pirates are relentless in their pursuit of treasure, glory, and adventure.

Pirate's Fury

 You embrace the daring spirit of a pirate, channeling your rage into your swashbuckling adventures. While raging, you gain the following benefits

You gain proficiency with vehicles (water) and tools related to seafaring.
You can move freely through difficult terrain on ships or within 30 feet of bodies of water.
When you hit with a melee attack while raging, you can choose to attempt to disarm your opponent by forcing them to make a Strength saving throw or lose their weapon.

Pirate Specialty

At 3rd level, As a Barbarian of the Path of the Pirate, you choose a Pirate Specialty that represents your unique focus and expertise as a swashbuckling adventurer. Each Pirate Specialty grants you a set of abilities and skills tailored to your chosen path, whether you are a Sea Reaver, a Sky Corsair, a Marsh Marauder, a Treasure Hunter, or a Davy Jones's Scourge. Your Pirate Specialty defines your role within the crew and shapes your pirate identity, guiding your actions and decisions on the high seas and beyond.

Pirates of all stripes, regardless of their chosen Pirate Specialty, bear distinctive markings that showcase their affiliation and dedication to their pirate archetype. These markings can take the form of intricate tattoos, jewelry adorned with precious gems, or even supernatural symbols etched into their skin. The design and appearance of these markings reflect the unique qualities and abilities associated with each Pirate Specialty, serving as a badge of honor and a symbol of their commitment to a life of adventure and plunder.

These Pirate Markings not only convey a sense of identity but also serve as a source of inspiration and fear among the crew and adversaries alike. They are a constant reminder that, as a pirate, you are part of a legendary tradition filled with swashbuckling exploits and daring escapades.

Davy Jones's Scourge

You have an uncanny connection to the supernatural and the legendary sea captain Davy Jones. You gain the following abilities:

• You can communicate with and understand the spirits of the departed, particularly those who met their end at sea.
• You can use your rage to become a spectral apparition, allowing you to pass through solid objects and making you immune to non-magical attacks until the end of your turn.

Marsh Marauder

You are a cunning and resourceful pirate of the mucky marshes, skilled in ambushes and survival in these wetlands. You gain the following abilities:

• You can move freely through difficult terrain in marshy environments and gain advantage on Stealth checks in marshy terrain.
• You have resistance to poison damage and advantage on saving throws against being poisoned.

Sea Reaver

You are a seasoned pirate of the high seas, skilled in naval battles and the art of plundering ships.

• Aquatic Prowess: You gain proficiency with Strength (Athletics) checks related to swimming, climbing aboard ships, and grappling foes in aquatic environments. Additionally, you can hold your breath indefinitely, and you have advantage on saving throws against effects that would force you to move against your will in water.

• Boarding Expertise: You excel in boarding enemy vessels and engaging in close combat. While on a ship, you have advantage on melee attack rolls and saving throws against being disarmed. Additionally, you gain a climbing speed equal to your walking speed when attempting to board an enemy ship or climb rigging.

Sky Corsair

You are a daring marauder of the skies, plundering flying vessels and navigating the aerial realm.

• You can use Dexterity instead of Strength for your rage damage whilst raging.
• You have advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks.

Treasure Hunter

You excel at finding hidden riches and deciphering ancient maps. You gain the following abilities:

• You have proficiency in Investigation and Perception checks.
• You can spend time during a short rest to find extra treasures, uncover hidden traps, or decipher cryptic clues in your surroundings.

Pirate Specializations

You further develop your Pirate Specialty, enhancing your unique focus. Choose one of the following Pirate Specializations:

Davy Jones's Curse

Your connection to Davy Jones's realm deepens. While raging, you can use your spectral abilities to become incorporeal at the end of your turn, allowing you to move through objects and creatures as if they were difficult terrain. Additionally, when you deal damage to a creature with your melee attacks, the target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened of you until the end of your next turn. The DC for this saving throw is 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus.

Marsh Marauder's Ambush Tactics

Your ambushes in marshy environments are unmatched. While raging, you gain a +2 bonus to your attack and damage rolls when hidden in marshy terrain. Additionally, when you make a successful melee attack against a surprised creature, the target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of your next turn. The DC for this saving throw is 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus.

Sea Reaver's Fury

Your mastery of naval combat intensifies. while raging, you can make an additional melee attack as a bonus action after taking the Attack action. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (a minimum of once) and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Sky Corsair's Aerial Maneuvers

You become a master of aerial combat. While raging, your Dexterity increases by 2 (up to a maximum of 20), and your flying speed, if any, increases by 10 feet. Additionally, you have advantage on Dexterity saving throws while in the air or aboard a flying vessel.

Treasure Hunter's Cunning

Your treasure hunting skills reach new heights. While raging, you can use your bonus action to search your surroundings for hidden treasures, traps, or clues. This allows you to make an Investigation or Perception check to uncover hidden objects, traps, or secrets within 30 feet of you.

Eye for Treasure

At this stage of your pirate journey, you've developed a keen Eye for Treasure. Your insatiable thirst for riches and plunder has honed your instincts and skills to uncover hidden bounties with ease. With a glance, you can pinpoint the location of valuable artifacts, forgotten loot, and concealed riches. Your uncanny ability to locate coveted items within the grasp of your chosen Pirate Specialty further solidifies your reputation as a master treasure hunter among your fellow pirates. The allure of your discoveries keeps your crew loyal and your enemies wary, for no treasure can remain hidden from your watchful eye for long. At 10th level, you can cast locate object once per day, this will appear as a compass with the item of your desire blurred in the background.

Captain's Authority

At this pinnacle of your pirate career, you embody the archetype of the pirate captain. You command the seas, skies, or marshes with unyielding authority and infallible leadership. Your ship, crew, or swamp responds to your every beck and call as you demonstrate the true essence of a seasoned captain. Your presence on the battlefield inspires unwavering loyalty among your crew, and your enemies tremble in the face of your command. The mastery you've achieved in your chosen domain amplifies your abilities as a captain, allowing you to direct the flow of battle and achieve feats of unparalleled swashbuckling prowess.

Aerial Raiders

Your daring exploits in the skies have earned you a reputation as a fearsome aerial pirate. While raging, you and your allies gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed, allowing you to take to the skies for a short duration. This ability lasts for 1 minute and can be used once per long rest.

Captain's Fleet

Your leadership as a sea reaver has grown legendary.  You can summon a spectral fleet of warships when you enter a rage. These ships encircle the battlefield, providing cover and serving as platforms for your crew to engage in ranged combat. This feature lasts for 1 minute and can be used once per long rest.

Ghostly Reckoning

Your connection to the spirit world and the legacy of Davy Jones allows you to summon a ghostly armada of spectral ships and crew members. While raging, you can call upon 5 Spectral Crew Members these spirits to attack your foes. They swarm your enemies, dealing damage and causing fear. This ability lasts for 1 minute and can be used once per long rest.

Hoard Sense

While raging, you have a heightened ability to detect hidden treasures and riches within 100 feet of you. You can use this ability at will while raging.

Swamp Sovereign

You've become a true master of the marshes, and your control over swampy terrain is unmatched. While raging, you can manipulate the very environment, causing the ground to shift and change to your advantage. You gain the ability to shape the terrain and create difficult or hazardous terrain within 30 ft of yourself as needed. This feature lasts for 1 minute and can be used once per long rest.
