Base Class: Barbarian
Though most Barbarians are primal warriors, embracing the wilds, there exists another variety in this technological age. Barbarians who walk the Path of the Iron Reaver are fierce warriors, with one step in the physical world and one in the mechanical. The furnace of technology burns within, powering them onto great feats of combat prowess.
Steam Powered Engine
At 3rd level, when the Barbarian embraces this path they gain access to the following features:
- Overcharge Points: Whenever you take damage of an amount equal to or greater than your current Barbarian level you gain an Overcharge Point. You lose any unspent points when you take a long rest, and cannot gain a total greater than your Barbarian Level + Con Modifier + Str Modifier. In addition, if you are hit with a critical strike, you will receive an additional point, likewise if you critically hit an enemy with an attack this will generate a point, or if you roll a natural 20 with a saving throw.
You can use this resource to provide beneficial effects:
- Mecha-Strike: Spend an Overcharge Point to enhance a melee strike, for each point spent add 1d4 damage to your attacks.
- Steam Barrage: Spend three points to belch out a gust of steam, unleashing the same effects as Fog Cloud
- Boiling Point: Spend an Overcharge Point, to overheat yourself. Any creature starting their turn within 5ft of you suffers fire damage equal to your barbarian level, and you take damage equal to half (rounded down) of this at the start of your turn whilst this is active.
Steam Juggernaut
At 6th level, your affinity with the technology coursing through your body improves and you gain the following features:
- Steam Stride: Spend two or more Overcharge Points, and until the start of your next turn your movement speed increases by 10ft for each point spent.
- Titan's Grasp: Spend eight Overcharge Points and transform your weaponry. If you are wielding a weapon in each hand, metallic shards form around them, increasing them in size (add a d6 dmg to each). If you are wielding a two handed weapon, an additional weapon forms into your weak hand (you are proficient with this weapon, and it does 2d6 damage on hit). Whilst this ability is active, you can forgo the requirements of needing two hands to hold these weapons, but the standard rules of Two Weapon Fighting apply. This ability lasts ten minutes.
- Running Start: If you are ever without Overcharge Points and enter a Rage, you will generate one point.
Steam Specialist
At 10th level, your synchronisation with the technology within is nearly complete, and this mastery grants you access to the following features:
- Nano-Reconstruction: Spend four or more Overcharge Points to speed up the healing process, for each point spent regain d4 hit points.
- Speed Demon: Spend five Overcharge Points to enhance your vital organs, giving you the benefits of the Haste spell.
- Steamish Rebuke: As a reaction, triggered on being hit by a melee attack, you may spend Overcharge Points to unleash a cascade of steam on the attacking enemy. This attack deals d6 for each point spent, and the enemy must make a Dexterity Save vs 8+Proficiency+Con Mod, taking half damage on a success.
Scion of Steam
At 14th level, you have now achieved the perfect harmony of man and machine, granting you access to the following features:
- Limit Break: If you are ever reduced to 0 hit points, you instead are reduced to 1 hit point, and your Overcharge Points are filled to maximum. This can only occur once per day.
