Base Class: Barbarian
The Path of Temporal Rage barbarian is inspired by the Magic The Gathering character, Obeka, Brute Chronologist. Your Rage bends, twists, and at higher levels shatters time.
Chronal Distortion
3rd-level Path of Temporal Rage feature
Whenever you finish a long rest, roll a number of D20s equal to your Proficiency Bonus and record the numbers rolled. While Rage is active, you may replace an attack roll or saving throw made by you, or an attack roll made against you with one of those rolls. You must choose to do so before the roll and you may replace a roll only once per Rage.
Chronal Break
3rd-level Path of Temporal Rage feature
When you enter your Rage, time begins to sunder around you, roll on the Chronal Break table to determine the effect of your rage on time.
If the effect requires a saving throw, the DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier.
Chronal Break
| d8 | Effect |
|---|---|
| 1 | As you rage, you and a number of creatures around you expend a day of physical energy in an instant. Roll 1d6, that many creatures, plus yourself must make a constitution saving throw or suffer a point of exhaustion. |
| 2 | Time melts around you. Until your Rage ends all other creatures within 30 feet of you must make a constitution saving throw at the beginning of their turn or as they enter this space for the first time, if they fail this save, until the beginning of their next turn their speed is halved, they take a -1 penalty to their AC, and they can't use reactions, and it can use either an action or a bonus action on their turn, not both. |
| 3 | Your rage creates chronal distortions around you. While this rage lasts you may use a bonus action during each of your turns to grant your choice of advantage or disadvantage to all other creatures within 15 feet of you on either their next attack or saving throw. |
| 4 | Your rage imbues your melee attacks with temporal energy. While this rage lasts, the first Melee attack you hit with on each of your turns deals an extra 1d6 force damage. |
| 5 | Your rage shatters the chronological line. As you rage you shunt yourself and up to 5 other creatures within 60 feet of you through time. You may choose another position they could fit in and that has footing on either the ground or a floor within 60 feet of their starting position. Unwilling creatures may make a constitution saving throw to resist this effect. |
| 6 | Your rage grants you power to rewind pockets of time. As a reaction during this rage, you may attempt to cancel a target creature's action, that creature must make an intelligence saving throw to resist this effect. |
| 7 | As you rage, waves of temporal energy burst out of you and freezes those they hit in time. Up to 1d4+1 creatures of your choice within 30 feet of you must make a dexterity saving throw or be frozen in time for 1d4 turns. While they are frozen they are considered paralyzed. This effect ends if they take any damage or are subjected to any magical effect. |
| 8 | As you Rage time slows to a snail's pace around you. While this rage last, your speed is doubled, you gain a +2 bonus to AC, you have advantage on Dexterity saving throws, and you gain an additional action on each of your turns. That action can be used only to take the Attack (one weapon attack only), Dash, Disengage, Hide, or Use an Object action. When this effect ends, you can't move or take actions until after your next turn, as a wave of lethargy sweeps over it. |
Temporal Crusher
6th-level Path of Temporal Rage feature
Beginning at 6th level, your power over the temporal fabric strengthens. Whenever you land a critical hit, you may expend one of your Chronal Distortion numbers and add it to the damage rolled. You may use this ability once per long rest.
Rage of Ages
10th-level Path of Temporal Rage feature
When you roll on your Chronal Distortion table, roll a second time, and choose one of the effects to have active during this rage. Reroll one of the dice if a duplicate number is rolled.
Brute Chronology
14th-level Path of Temporal Rage feature
You gain a reaction, allowing you to make an attack with the weapon you're wielding. While raging, you have advantage on this attack. If this attack hits, the target must make a constitution saving throw, or end their turn. The DC is 10, plus your constitution modifier, plus your proficiency modifier. You can use this reaction until you hit with it, and then you must wait until you finish a short rest before you can use it again.
