Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

A Barbarian following the path of the Skald recalls tales of warriors past, and their great deeds. The Skald continues on, for the sake of those great warriors, to spread their word. While they live in him, he is untouchable. While they guide his sword, he is unbeatable.

The presence of a Skald on the battlefield is also a great comfort to his allies, as they take solace in the stories of old, and strive to achieve the same lofty heights.

Tales Of Glory

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, when you enter your rage, you may recite an epitaph of heroes past, emboldening yourself and your allies. Until your rage ends, you can place an effect of one of the following tales on creatures equal to your proficiency bonus that can hear you:

Erik The Fleet. All creatures affected by this tale gain an extra 10ft of movement speed while you are raging.

Ingrid The Sure. If a creature affected by this tale misses an attack roll, they may use their reaction in order to re-roll it.

Anders The Vengeful. If a creature affected by this tale is targeted by an attack, they may use their reaction to make an attack, or cast a spell attack (cantrip) against the creature attacking them.

Magnus The Immortal. If a creature affected by this tale takes damage, they may use their reaction to heal 1d8 + your barbarian level.

Helga The Battle Maiden. A creature affected by this tale may take the dodge action as a bonus action.

You must use your bonus action to maintain the tale on each of your turns. Once a tale ends, you cannot use another until the next time you enter a rage.

Call To Battle

Your tales of valor and glory have a rallying affect on your allies, as they seem eager to throw themselves into battle for the glory of long fallen warriors, and their weapons hum through the air like the legends of old.

Creatures under the affect of your tales of glory ignore resistances and immunities to non-magical attacks and weapons, as though they were wielding a magical weapon.

Additionally, when you roll initiative, you can expend one use of your rage in order to grant advantage on the initiative roll to a number of creatures equal to your proficiency bonus that can hear you.

Horn Of Heroes

Using a bonus action, you can summon a spectral horn. Upon blowing on the horn, which takes an action, you can summon the shade of a legendary warrior to impart its knowledge and wisdom upon you. This horn can give you one of the following abilities:

  • You can speak, read, or write an additional language of your choice until your next long rest.
  • You can choose one proficiency you possess: It becomes an expertise until your next long rest.
  • You can use the action used to blow the horn in order to cast Speak With Dead.
  • You can use the action used to blow the horn in order to cast Augury.

This ability can be used once per long rest.

Glory Before Death

You may forsake one of your attacks to instead slam a spectral standard into the ground. This standard affects all creatures in a 60ft radius, lasts for1 minute, and has the following effects.

  • All friendly creatures within the radius of the standard have advantage on attack rolls.
  • Once per turn, a creature you hit with an attack must make a wisdom saving throw (DC equal to 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus). If they fail, they are considered frightened of you. They may repeat this saving throw at the start of each of their turns, ending the effect on a success.
  • While the standard is active, you may give up one of the attacks in your attack action in order to heal every friendly creature in the radius for hit points equal to your barbarian level.

This standard can only be summoned once per long rest, unless you expend a rage to summon it again.
