Momentum
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you get a sense of increased control of your bodily movements.
Each time you spend a ki point, you gain one stack of momentum. For each stack of momentum you have, you gain 5 feet of movement. To maintain momentum, you must use all available movement on your turn (Ex. If you have 30ft movement, and 2 stacks of momentum, to maintain it you MUST use 40ft of movement) if you fail to use all movement, you lose all stacks.
In the event you are knocked prone with stacks of momentum, you take bludgeoning damage equal to five times your stacks of momentum, and you lose all stacks.
Evasive Movement
At 6th level, you gain a new way to protect yourself.
When you start your turn in combat with stacks of momentum, you gain the following benefits:
- Gain Temporary HP equal to your stacks of momentum (flavor option, evading an attack).
- Your AC is now equal to 1/2 your stacks of momentum, rounded up (Max +5). This replaces any armor bonuses (natural or worn) you currently wear, excluding enchanted jewelry.
Additionally, now any time you dash as an action or bonus action, gain one stack of momentum (Step of the wind counts for two stacks); additionally any targets you hit while you have stacks of Momentum have disadvantage on attacks of opportunity against you.
Concussive Force
Beginning at 11th level, your movements now can cause devastating damage to enemies. When you make an unarmed strike against an enemy, you can choose one of the following effects:
- Inertia: You can deplete stacks of momentum in multiples of 5 to shove an enemy an equal distance to the stacks spent (Five stacks = Five foot shove).
- Force: You can deplete any number of stacks of momentum to increase your unarmed attack modifiers (both damage and to hit), and if you do so, the extra damage is treated as force.
Enhanced Momentum
At 17th level, you gain access to your best self.
- Momentum stacks no longer deplete if your don't use your full speed, or fall prone (but do reset after 10 minutes).
- Your Momentum AC is now equal to your number of Momentum Stacks (Max +10), however magical items no longer can keep up with your speed, as such you no longer gain their AC benefits.
- Using your Concussive Strike feature, you no longer lose stacks to use them.
Additionally, you may stave off the effects of exhaustion for one day. However after your next rest of any kind, you gain double the points of exhaustion that you've staved off from that day.
