Base Class: Monk
While other disciples of the Martial Arts train their ability to acquire the controlled and ancient powers of dragons, others embrace the wild spirit of another legendary creature: the phoenix.Monks who study the way of the flaming phoenix revel in the excitement of battle and letting their blazing passion take on a fiery form of grace and power who is as deadly as it is beautiful. Some even say that following the path of the phoenix takes away their humanity and - over time - transform them into a projection of the legendary phoenix itself.
Phoenix Flames
Starting at 3rd level, the spirit of the phoenix empowers your strikes. When you make an attack with an unarmed strike or a monk weapon, you can choose to wreath it in fire. On a hit, the attack deals fire damage instead of the normal damage type for that attack.
Undying Cinders
Also at 3rd level, your ki has marked your soul to be forever infused with undying fire.
When you are unconscious, a fiery egg appears in your space. The egg is a Tiny object with an AC of 20. It has one hit point, and it is immune to fire. A creature that touches the egg or hits it with a melee attack while within 5 feet of it takes 1d6 fire damage.
While you are in the egg, you have advantage on death saving throws and can't be the target of any damage. If One wants to attack your body, the egg has to be destroyed first. You can use this ability once per long rest.
Consuming Conflagration
At 6th level, you can expel excess energy from your body as waves of scorching heat and flames.
Whenever you spend ki points, you can erupt in fire. Each creature of your choice within 30 feet of you must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your Ki save DC, or take fire damage equal to two rolls of your Martial Arts die. You may activate this ability no more than once per turn.
You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier, and regain expended uses whenever you finish a short or long rest.
Boiling Blood
Also at 6th level, you can spend 1 ki point as a bonus action to gain resistance to fire damage for 1 hour. During this time, once per turn, you can reroll a damage die that deals fire damage, and must use the new roll.
Starting at 17th level, you can spend an additional 3 ki points when using this feature to gain immunity to fire damage instead of resistance.
Phoenix Spirit
By 11th level, the spirit of the phoenix empowers you further. You gain the following benefits:
Phoenix Wings. You can manifest a pair of flaming wings from your back as a bonus action, which shed bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet.
While the wings are present, you gain a flying speed equal to half your walking speed. This becomes equal to your walking speed instead when you reach 17th level in this class.
The wings last until you're incapacitated, you die, or you dismiss them as a bonus action.
Phoenix Flame Barrage. At the start of your turn, you can spend 1 ki point to deal extra fire damage with attacks this turn equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die.
Incarnation of the Eternal Blaze
At 17th level, you fully embody the eternal spirit of a phoenix. You gain the following benefits:
Blazing Rebirth. When you die, you can spend 7 ki points to return in a blaze of glory. You are brought back to life with half your maximum hit points, and can immediately stand up if you so wish. Once you use this ability, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
Hot to the Touch. When you use Phoenix Flame Barrage, until the start of your next turn, whenever a creature within 5 feet of you touches you or hits you with a melee attack, you can deal 1d10 fire damage to it.
True Phoenix Fire. You ignore resistance to fire damage, and treat immunity to fire damage as resistance.
