Base Class: Sorcerer
The clash of blades, the heat of battle; these are the things you were not just exposed to, but were made for. Whether through magic or mundane methods, using blades is literally in your blood.
Blade-Lock
Starting at first level, you gain the ability to perform Blade Lock. Upon a successful melee attack, you may try to activate Blade Lock instead of hitting the creature. The target creature must make a wisdom saving throw against your Spell Save DC. (If the target creature does not know about this ability it will automatically fail.) If they succeed the wisdom saving throw the attack goes through and deals damage as usual; if they fail, however, they manage to block the damage but become locked-in-combat. Being locked-in-combat has the following effects:
- The creature is considered restrained
- The creature is unable to make melee or ranged weapon attacks
- The creature is unable to target anyone other than the other creature they are in Blade-Lock with with any spell, effect or ability.
Both you and the target creature are considered locked-in-combat upon successful activation, and thus are exposed to the effects above. You may maintain concentration on Blade-Lock during subsequent rounds; both creatures can remain locked-in-combat for up to one minute, until you decide to end it as a reaction, or until one of the creatures is reduced to 0 hp. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.
Blood for Battle
As long as you are not wearing armor, you may add your Charisma Modifier to your AC
Extra Attack
Starting at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. Moreover, you can cast one of your cantrips in place of one of those attacks.
Enchanted Attacks
At 14th level, you gain the ability to enhance your attacks with magic! After making an attack roll, but before the outcome is determined, you may choose to expend a spell slot of any level. You gain a bonus to the attack roll equal to the two times the level of spell slot, and deal an additional 1d8 force damage for every level of slot. If you attempt to use Blade-Lock on an attack enhanced by this ability, you may add the level of the spell slot expended to the DC of the wisdom saving throw, and deal the force damage regardless of whether the creature succeeds or not.
Lock Breaker
Beginning at 18th level, your Blade Lock has become second nature, requiring much less attention than before. Starting as this level, the following changes are made to your Blade-Lock ability:
- You no longer are required to maintain concentration to maintain Blade-Lock.
- You no longer are restricted on which creature you may target with spells and abilities while in Blade-Lock
- Creatures have disadvantage on the saving throw to avoid becoming locked-in-combat.
