Base Class: Bard
The College of Devotion is a path not usually considered as a Bard. Where some seek their muses from luscious landscapes, the heroism of others, or drunken nights of merriment, Bards of the College of Devotion draw their inspiration from the gods they worship.
Those that walk the path of music and worship tend to attract like minded folks in crowds. It is common to see a single bard of this college recreating a large religious choir piece on his own. His demeanor, calm and reverent as he performs the great hymns of his forebears. Those lucky enough to hear a Master Bard of Devotion bear witness to some of the greatest and most awe inspiring performances of the Forgotten Realms.
Songs of Faith
When you join the College of Devotion at 3rd level, you gain the ability to weave your song into calming and holy melodies. Choose a divine domain and an associated god. Many Bards of the College of Devotion have favor with Melil or Sune. You gain access to an increased spell list as described in the Cleric class. You may choose to learn them as you level up and they count as Bard spells for you. You also gain proficiency in the Religion skill.
As a bonus action, you can expend a use of Bardic Inspiration to heal an ally, similar to the use of the Healing Word spell. The healing it provides is based off of your Bardic Inspiration die plus your Charisma modifier.
While not a studious scholar in the manner a Cleric may be, your devotion to your god coupled with your gift for music allows for a unique blend of practicality and potency. When you use a charge of Bardic Inspiration, you may activate an effect, similar to the way a Cleric would Channel Divinity. Due to your god’s favor toward you, those who use your Bardic Inspiration dice may roll two where they would normally roll one, then take the higher.
You also gain the use of the Thaumaturgy cantrip. This can be used as normal and also with the added ability to multiply your voice as if you were a church choir. This includes different pitches, rhythms, and quality of voices (such as the voices of different genders).
Bard's Curiosity
Though you are a Bard of faith, you are still a bard, and this means that you have a burning desire to improve your abilities and knowledge through as many sources as possible. Your god smiles upon this pursuit of knowledge so long as it is in good faith.
At 3rd level, you gain the uncanny ability to seek out knowledge where it is seldom found. When you enter a town or a dungeon, you gain a supernatural sensitivity to items of your interest, whether that be tomes on an ancient shelf, specific books in a library, or certain people with valuable information for your improvement.
You also gain proficiency in the Investigation or History skill (choose one).
Divine Favor
At 6th level, your devotion to your god has gained you favor through service. When an ally’s hit points fall to zero, you may use your reaction to begin a performance. If your allies would be able to hear you while awake, they are affected by this feature. So long as you sustain the performance, using your action every turn to do so, all allies do not need to make death saving throws. This does not mean they stabilize, it simply means that they do not need to make the saving throw when they normally would have to.
Enemies who attempt to harm those you are protecting have disadvantage on attacks against them. Saving throws resume as normal once the performance ends. You may use your Songs of Faith feature without interrupting your performance, if you so choose.
Holy Harmonies
At 14th level, you have finally mastered the ability to intertwine your faith and song into a fountain of salvation and healing.
Anytime you use a spell or feature that heals a creature, and the die rolls below half of its max value, you may treat it as if it were at half of the dice’s max value.
