Base Class: Wizard
Wizardy is regarded as a type of magic not casted as an innate skill. Months, years, even decades of one’s life pooled over a collection of book and tomes and scrolls to study the arcane, just to harness a fraction of power. However, not all wizards rely on purely the material plane, some turn to the source. The knowledge wizards use converges at a single point, the entire being, the personification of wisdom and intelligence itself; Athena.
Being a wizard in the School of Athena means you worship the divine by practicing the arcane, delving into a delicate balance between the two magics. However, if done right, and if looked upon favorably, Athena may just notice your efforts, and might even deem you worthy enough for her blessings.

Awakened Spellbook
2nd-level School of Athena feature
Specially prepared inks and ancient incantations passed down by the Athean Order, you have embedded your spellbook with an arcane sentiance. The Order awakened their spellbook as a way to help strategize and work out their problems out loud. Sparking a ember of life into their tomes allowed for a separate source of feedback, another voice they could hear to see if what they were thinking even made sense.
These voices are a projection of the wizard, a part of themselves, even if the book has a separate voice, attitude, or even morality, it is still from a part of the caster.
The spellbook does not mechanically act as a companion, like a familiar or a ranger’s animal, but has its own working mind, voice, and personality.
While you are holding the book, it grants you the following benefits:
- You can use the book as a spellcasting focus for your wizard spells, expanded included.
- When you cast a wizard spell as a ritual, you can use the spell's normal casting time, rather than adding 10 minutes to it. Once you use this benefit, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.
The Athean Order has crafted a unique bond with their spellbooks, allowing them to benefit from one another. While holding the book, you have proficiency on Wisdom saving throws.
If necessary, you can replace the book over the course of a long rest by writing Athean hymns and sigils in a blank book or a magic spellbook to which you're attuned. At the end of the rest, your spellbook's consciousness is summoned into the new book, which the consciousness transforms into your spellbook, along with all its spells. Although, it is not guaranteed if the spellbook will act the same. If the previous book still existed somewhere, all the spells vanish from its pages.
Owl's Wit
As your connection to strategy and planning grows, so does your connection to Athena. She begins to see you as a worthy devotee and, in turn, gives you a small fraction of her divine clarity. When you reach 6th level, you gain access to a single portent roll.
- When you finish a long rest, roll one d20 and record the number rolled. You can replace any attack roll, saving throw, or ability check made by you or a creature that you can see with this foretelling roll.
- Each foretelling roll can be used only once. When you finish a long rest, you lose any unused foretelling rolls.
You growing devotion to Athena has blessed you with the keen ability to assess tactical situations and allows you to act quickly in battle. You can give yourself a bonus to your initiative rolls equal to your Intelligence modifier.
Strategic Beginnings
Your growing devotion to Athena has blessed you with the keen ability to assess tactical situations and allows you to act quickly in battle. You can give yourself a bonus to your initiative rolls equal to your Intelligence modifier.
Warrior of the Mind
At 10th level, your worship has drawn the undivided attention of Athena, causing her to grow fond of you. If you take damage while your spellbook is in hand, you can prevent a portion of that damage to you by using your reaction to pray to Athena and let her send a shield through your spellbook.
- As a reaction, roll 3d6 and take that away from the damage from the oncoming attack.
- Your spellbook then temporarily loses spells of your choice that have a combined spell level equal to half that roll (rounded down).
- For example, if the roll's total is 9, spells vanish from the book that have a combined level of at least 4, which could mean one 4th-level spell, four 1st-level spell, or some other combination.
- If there aren't enough spells in the book to cover this cost, the reaction does not go through and you take the damage unaffected
- These spells are lost for 2 rounds, making you incapable of casting the lost spells.
- After the two rounds, the spells reappear in the spell book.
- Once you use this reaction, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.
Shut In
In an attempt to protect the mind you have worked so hard to hone, you gain advantage on saves against charm effects.
Tactical Blessings
When you reach 14th level, you are deemed a beloved pupil of Athena. During battle, she fights at your side, blessing you with a divine might.
- When a creature takes damage from a spell attack of 3rd level or below or a weapon attack, you can also deal 4d8 radiant damage to that creature.
- You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier.
- Once you deal this damage, you can't use this feature again until the start of your next turn.
- The charges return after a long rest.
