Bard
Base Class: Bard

You become an impressive musician, using your magical abilities and your natural skill of instruments to play a unique magical instrument. This instrument is the Guzheng, a heavy stringed instrument with the beautiful sound of a harp but the deadly potency of a sword. The instrument originates from Orthai, used for the empresses orchestra but soon fell into the hands of assassins. The mystique of this instrument and this subclass, allows for the best drop on those unaware of its capabilities.

Deathly String

At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with the Guzheng instrument, which can be used as a spellcasting focus for your bard spells.

The Guzheng is a magical instrument with the heavy property, that can merge itself with weapons with its magical abilities. During a short rest, you can merge a non-magical melee weapon, with the Guzheng, destroying the weapon. This gives your Guzheng the range property, 30/60 range, gaining 10 ammunition of the merged weapon. The Guzheng deals damage equal to the current merged weapon.

At 6th level, the Guzheng can now be merged with magical melee weapons. The magic weapon returns back to you after the 10 ammunition has been used. If the merged weapon gains a bonus to its attack and damage, or has any addition benefits, add it to the Guzhengs weapon attack.

Violent Melody

Also at 3rd level, your tune with your Guzheng is beautiful and pleasant to the ear but to your enemies, it has a silent darker undertone.

You gain advantage on weapon attacks with your Guzheng and score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20 against any creature that have not taken a turn in the combat yet or is frightened.

In addition whenever you have advantage on your attacks rolls with your Guzheng, you can forgo the advantage and make a second attack with your Guzheng against a creature that you can see within 30 feet of the first creature. If this attack hits, the target takes extra necrotic damage equal to one roll of your bardic inspiration die and must make a wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, the target is frightened until the end of your next turn.

You can use this ability up to a number of times equal to your charisma modifier, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

At 8th level you can choose two creatures from the original target and at 14th level you can choose three creatures.

Perfect Harmony

At 6th level, your performance captures the audiences with its dark melody, you manipulate the forces to take advantage of their distraction.

At the beginning of your turn, you can drop prone and reduce your speed to 0 until the end of your turn. When you drop prone in this way you gain the effects of the shield spell until you move or stand up. In addition, you can now make a special weapon attack with your Guzheng, using your bonus action. If this attack hits, roll a bardic inspiration die, the total of the roll can do one of the following;

  • Reduce the targets next saving throw by the total roll.
  • Deal extra necrotic damage equal to double the total roll.
  • Reduce the targets AC by half the total roll (minimum of 1) until the end of your turn.

You can use this special attack equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

At 14th level, your Dread Warrior can also make a special weapon attack as a part of this bonus action.

Crescendo Black

Starting at 14th level, the darkened power of your Guzheng awakens and can cause a deathly final crescendo.

As an action, you cause a wave of undead warriors to fly towards your enemies with in 30 feet of you. The wave is 20 feet long and 5 feet wide. Each creature in the area must make a wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure the creatures take three rolls of your bardic inspiration die as necrotic damage and are frightened. On a success the creatures take half damage and are not frightened.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short rest or long rest. You can expend a 5th level or higher spell slot to use this ability again.

Guzheng Warrior

In addition at 14th level, If a humanoid creature is reduced to 0 hit points as a result of Crescendo Black, you can use your reaction to raise the creature as a Dread Warrior under your control. The Dread Warrior is an ally to you and your companions. In combat, the Dread Warrior shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It obeys your verbal commands (no action required by you). If you don’t issue any, it takes the Dodge action and uses its movement to avoid danger.

The Dread Warrior can add your charisma modifier to its attack roll and replace any weapons it holds with the weapon your Guzheng is currently merged with. The Dread Warrior lasts until it is reduced to 0 hit points or is raised again using the Guzheng Warrior ability, to which it is replaced with a new Dread Warrior.
