Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Path of Madness barbarians leap into the fray and risk death for the love of glorious bloodshed, or perhaps they are just gluttons for punishment.  These barbarian's strength comes from the very damage they sustain in battle.  They have been attuned with primal forces that sacrifice their vitality to empower their reflexes and strikes in battle.  These primordial forces can be magical or mundane in nature and either good, evil, or neutral but are represented with the barbarians broken mind and inhibition of their survival instincts.  They can arise from deep emotional or mental scarring or from the barbarian encountering a powerful entity and having their vicious potential unlocked.

Maddening Rage

When following this path the Barbarians Rage is empowered by sacrificing their own vitality and whenever the barbarian rages they are reduced to half their max hit points and gain one additional reaction that can only be used to attack.  This effect is mandatory and the barbarian can not gain hit points above half their maximum while raging.  The initial reduction of hit points has no effect if they are already at or below half their hit point maximum, they instead go into maddening rage and its benefits without paying the cost.  When ending rage the barbarian has eased their mind while regaining peace and composure.  Their primordial forces revert from violence to healing and they then regain hit points using hit dice + your constitution modifier added to the total, up to a maximum of 4 hit dice spent per ended rage.

Crazed Resilience:  Beginning at 3rd level, your crazed instincts protect you in battle while raging.  You can reduce any incoming total damage amount once per single attack or action that would land simultaneously by a d4 at 3rd level, a d6 at 5th level, a d8 by 7th level, and a d12 by 10th level, and 2d8 by 13th level in this class.  You can use this every time you are attacked while raging and current hit points are a minimum of 1 hit point below half your total hit points.  If damaged by multiple damage types in one attack or ability you can choose which damage type to reduce but not both.

Vicious Payback

Beginning at 6th level, whenever you are damaged while in your Maddening Rage you can use a reaction to immediately make a melee attack against the creature that damaged you.  The damage from Vicious Payback treated as a normal weapon attack plus the damage you mitigated using your Crazed Resilience feature.  You can use Vicious Payback a maximum of twice each costing a reaction to use, and you cannot use vicious payback if you have no reactions.

Driven by Madness

Starting at 10th level, whenever you are damaged by an enemy you gain an additional 10 feet of movement when moving in a straight line towards that creature until you stop raging.  While moving directly towards that creature, you are unaffected by difficult terrain and movement inhibiting conditions.  While raging if an enemy damages you, you can spend a reaction to move half your base movement speed to that creature immediately after.

Edges of a Shattered Mind

Starting at 14th level, the latest amount of damage mitigated by Crazed Resilience can be added to the saving throw of a Wisdom Save you have to make.  Whenever your Maddening Rage ends you become immune to charmed effects until you rage again.  If a spell effect is removed this way you suffer 1 point of exhaustion.
