Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of the Consort master oratory art. They are politicians who know that persuasion is not only regarded as a high art, but that a well-reasoned, well-spoken argument often proves more powerful than objective truth. These bards wield a blend of logic and theatrical wordplay, winning over sceptics and detractors with loving compliments, plucking at heartstrings to appeal to the emotions of entire audiences.

Universal Speech

Beginning when you first choose this college at 3rd level, you have gained the ability to make your speech intelligible to any creature. As an action, choose one or more creatures within 60 feet of you, up to a number equal to your proficiency bonus. The chosen creatures can magically understand you, regardless of the language you speak, for 10 minutes.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of 2nd level or higher to use it again.

Eloquent Flattery

Also at 3rd level, your silver tongue grants your bardic inspiration the following effects:

  • Whenever you make a Charisma(Persuasion) check, you can use your reaction and expend one bardic inspiration die, granting the die to yourself.
  • Whenever an ally expends your bardic inspiration die, note the number rolled. The next time they take damage, it is reduced by an amount equal to the noted number.

Passive Aggression

At 6th level, you can repel the uncivilized violence of others. Whenever a hostile creature within 60 feet of you deals damage to an ally, you can use your reaction and cast the vicious mockery cantrip at them. You can do so even if you don’t know the spell.

Furthermore, creatures within 10 feet of the targeted creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, they become charmed by you until the end of your next turn, and they treat the creature targeted by the spell with contempt and disrespect, disappointed in them for causing violence.

You can use this feature once, regaining the ability to use it again when you finish a short or long rest, or by expending 2 uses of your bardic inspiration.

Consort's Inspiration

By the time you’ve reached 14th level, your words are so persuasive that others feel driven to succeed even when they fail. You gain the following features:

Unfailing Inspiration. When a creature within 60 feet of you adds one of your Bardic Inspiration dice to its ability check, attack roll, or saving throw and the roll fails, the creature can keep the Bardic Inspiration die.

Infectious Inspiration. When a creature within 60 feet of you adds one of your Bardic Inspiration dice to its ability check, attack roll, or saving throw and the roll succeeds, you can use your reaction to encourage a different creature (other than yourself) that can hear you within 60 feet of you, giving it a Bardic Inspiration die without expending any of your Bardic Inspiration uses. This granted Bardic Die is one size lower than your current Bardic Inspiration die. You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
