Base Class: Druid
Druids within the Circle of Woodcarvings have become experts in their druidic magics. While most Druids must morph into their beastly brethren to use their strengths, those of the Circle of Woodcarvings have learned to capture that same power in baubles, masks, and totems that they carve with a magical carving knife; albeit the magic much more enervated in these wooden forms. However, this lets those of the Circle be more flexible with these powers, and even share them with those they wish.
as found in Sights & Sounds - The Wildous
Carving Knife
When you take this Circle at 3rd-level, you learn to create a magical carving knife as a part of your expertise in the field of wood-carving. It is a small object that can serve as a spell casting focus for your druidic spells, it also may serve as a magical dagger, but only to overcome resistance to non-magical damage. You cannot create new Wooden Trinkets or Wooden Masks without it.
While you have your carving knife, you gain proficiency in woodcarver’s tools and the Carving Knife may be used in replacement of those tools, but only for you.
If you lose your carving knife or if it is destroyed, you can enchant a dagger over the course of an hour to be a replacement.
Wooden Trinkets
At 3rd-level, you gain the ability to, as an action, expend a use of your Wild Shape to create a Wooden Trinket. A Wooden Trinket can be anything from small baubles to specialized wooden jewelry or necklaces.
When you create a Trinket you choose a beast that has a CR determined by your wild shape limitations, you then choose to gain one one trait of that beast. anyone who wears the Trinket can use that trait as if they had it. Traits that you can choose from include:
• Movement Speed(s)
• Languages
• Senses
• Resistances
At 3rd-level you have a maximum of one Trinket you can use at a time, you gain one additional Trinket at 6th and 14th-level.
Once you make more than your maximum number of Trinkets, a previous Trinket of your choice become devoid of its magics and nothing more than a knickknack, so that the new Trinket may take it’s place.
Wooden Masks
When you reach 6th-level in this Circle, you gain the abilities to make Wooden Masks. These Masks are very special to Woodcarving Druids as they are representations of that Druid’s inner spirit, and it often reflects the Druid’s inner-feeling and worldview, as well as how they conduct themselves.
Over the course of a long rest, you choose a beast that has a CR determined by your wild shape limitations. For that day, you create a mask in the visage of your selected beast. As long as you wear the Mask, you gain all actions and abilities of that creature (not including resistances, immunities, senses, ability scores, or legendary/lair actions). You cannot pick the same creature twice in a row for this mask.
As long as you wear the mask, you cannot wild shape and you are considered a beast. You can remove or put on the mask as a free action during combat.
Advanced Carvings
When you reach 10th-level in this Circle, you may select up to CR 3 beasts for the effects of Wooden Trinkets or Wooden Masks.
Totem Carving
When you reach 14th-level in this Circle, as a action, you can destroy Wooden Trinkets and create a Totem out of them: A Totem is a medium-sized, magical, non-sentient construct; any allies within 30 feet of the Totem gain the traits of the Trinket(s) used to create it.
While the Totem is active, a Druid may use the effect of Wooden Trinkets to, instead of creating a Trinket, add an additional effect to the Totem. The Totem can hold up to two Trinket abilities at a time. The abilities the Totem has do not count towards your maximum number of Trinkets.
As a bonus action, the Druid who created the Totem has the ability to move the totem 15 feet in any direction. The Totem has hit points equal to double their Druid Class level, however, if an attack does not destroy the totem, it regains all hit points after the attack. The totem is 6 feet tall and weighs 250lbs.
You can only summon a Totem twice per short rest.
