Base Class: Warlock
In the shadowy realms where the threads of magic weave through the very fabric of reality, there exists a pact forged in the depths of arachnid-infested domains. Warlocks who dare to embrace the essence of spiders discover a macabre and enthralling connection to the arachnid world. These wielders of dark and mystical webs entwine themselves with the eerie power of spiders, channeling the venomous touch, the silent agility, and the web-spinning mastery of their eight-legged allies.

Venomous Strikes
1st level Spider Matron feature
Starting at level 1, all weapon and spell attacks deal an extra 1d4 poison damage.
Dissolution
6th level Spider Matron feature
Starting at sixth level, as an action, you can disintegrate into a Swarm of Insects, which takes the form of a swarm of spiders. While transformed in this way, you retain your proficiency bonus, your Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma saves, and your Armor Class. Any equipment you're wearing or carrying melds into your new form, letting you retain its benefits.
You have 15HP in this form, and you deal 3d4 piercing + 3d4 poison damage on attacks. Your attacks have a bonus to hit equal to your charisma modifier plus your proficiency bonus. You cannot cast any spells while in this form.
You can stay in this state until your HP reaches 0 or you end the transformation as a bonus action. If you reach 0 HP this way, you are knocked unconscious when you come into your original form.
Web of Defense
1st level Spider Matron feature
While unarmored and not wielding a shield, your AC is equal to 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Charisma modifier.
Avatar of the Eight-Eyed
14th level Spider Matron feature
As a bonus action, you can transform into an avatar of your Matron for one minute. While transformed in this way, you have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage. Additionally, you radiate an aura of menace around you. Hostile creatures within 10 ft. of you take a penalty to their saving throws equal to your Charisma modifier. Also, your attacks and spells deal an extra 3d8 poison damage.
Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before using it again.

Posted Mar 29, 2024Well, let's see if this one can crawl out of the web of mediocrity.
Expanded Spell List: Ensnaring Strike and Snare for level 1 spells? That's like giving someone a water pistol when they're about to face a forest fire. And Fly In The Web? Sounds more like a tourist attraction than a spell. Overall, this list feels like it's missing the mark on delivering that spine-chilling arachnid vibe.
Venomous Strikes: Alright, a little extra poison damage is a nice touch. But 1d4? That's like a mosquito bite compared to the venomous sting of a black widow. Where's the bite in this bite?
Dissolution: Transforming into a swarm of spiders sounds appropriately creepy, I'll give you that. But 15HP? That's about as durable as a cobweb in a hurricane. And no spells in spider form? Talk about a missed opportunity. It's like giving someone the ability to shapeshift into a dragon but forgetting to give them the ability to breathe fire.
Web of Defense: Unarmored AC based on Dexterity and Charisma? Sounds like a fancy way of saying "I'm too lazy to wear armor." Plus, relying on Dexterity AND Charisma for AC feels like trying to spin too many plates at once. It's like trying to dance a jig while juggling flaming torches.
Avatar of the Eight-Eyed: Resistance to physical damage, an aura of menace, and extra poison damage? Now we're talking! This ability finally feels like a worthy payoff for embracing the dark allure of spiderhood. But once per short or long rest? It's like giving someone a taste of chocolate cake and then snatching it away before they can finish.
Overall, this Spider Matron has potential, but it's still caught in its own web of half-baked ideas and missed opportunities. With a bit more venom in its bite and a tighter focus on delivering that spine-chilling arachnid experience, it could truly weave a tale of terror worthy of its eight-legged inspiration.
