Base Class: Monk
On the path of the staff, the monk discovers an essential connection between their own being and the intrinsic grace of the staff. This journey seeks complete mastery with this seemingly simple weapon, elevating it beyond its physical nature. Practitioners of this path strive for harmony between mind and body, seeking the fundamental truth lying within the dance of the staff.
The staff becomes a fluid extension of their essence, a manifestation of their internal discipline and the fluidity of their movements. In every turn and strike, the monk of the staff path seeks perfection, not only as a warrior but as a martial artist unleashing true beauty through mastery of their weapon.
As they progress along this path, staff monks develop an intuitive connection with their weapon, feeling every vibration, every curve, as if the staff were an extension of their own soul. This profound relationship with the staff not only grants them formidable combat skills but also provides a unique perspective on the duality of strength and grace.
Instead of viewing the staff as an instrument of violence, these monks consider it an artistic expression of their inner being. Every strike, every block, is a choreographed dance carrying the very essence of their training. The staff path not only seeks efficiency in combat but also elegance in every movement, transforming battle into a kinetic masterpiece.
Thus, monks of the staff path seek harmony not only with their weapon but with the world around them. Their training shapes not only their physical prowess but also nurtures their mind and spirit. In the eternal dance of the staff, they find fulfillment in their quest, taking the simplicity of the weapon to spiritual heights where skill merges with grace in a sublime expression of martial mastery.
Cane master
From the moment you choose this tradition at level 3, the staff you wield as a weapon is considered to have the "reach" property. Additionally, when you take the "Shove a Creature" action using one of your staff attacks, you add your Dexterity bonus to your Strength (Athletics) roll. Moreover, you can use the martial arts die to attack with the staff and gain the Ki features benefits with your staff.
Harmonic Link
By choosing this path, you develop a special bond with your staff. You gain the ability to channel your ki energy through it, granting you a boost in your attacks. When you make an attack with a staff held with both hands, you can spend 1 ki point to temporarily increase your damage by a d4. This enhancement lasts until the end of your turn.
Fluid Movements
Your skill and connection with the staff allow you to move with astonishing grace. You have advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) rolls and can dodge as an additional action without spending ki, but only if you have previously attacked while moving with your staff in hand.
Chord Thrust
You learn to channel your ki uniquely through your staff. You can perform a special charge as an additional action after making an unarmed strike or using a staff. If you hit with the charge, you deal additional damage equal to your Wisdom modifier, and the target must make a strength saving throw against your ki save DC or be knocked prone.
Dance of Mastery
Upon reaching the pinnacle of your training, you become a master of the staff. You gain the ability to perform a "Mastery Dance" as an action. During this dance, your movements are so swift and precise that you have advantage on all your staff attacks, and your critical hits have an expanded range, occurring on a roll of 19 or 20 on the die.
The "Mastery Dance" lasts for one minute and can be used once per long rest.
