Base Class: Barbarian
"Sometimes it's magic, sometimes it's madness, sometimes, a beat is just so dank and the melody so amazing that it just worms its way into your head and there's no way of escaping it and oh my god why can't I stop hearing it I don't even like it and won't you just PLEASE LET ME FREE!"
- transcript of the final words of Ericka the Dancing Skald as she pirouetted to her death
Music runs through these warriors at all times. While it can afford them a grace, dextrousness and viciousness that is unmatched by many it carries a terrible burden. By whatever quirks their brains just cannot let go of songs, and while the song might not always be the same; these poor and wretched souls are cursed by an eternal accompanying soundtrack that will follow them to what will undoubtedly be an early grave.
Eternal Music
3rd-level Song Stuck in Your Head feature
Music is permanently running through your mind, and driving you to absurd and unusual forms of rage. As part of entering a rage choose one of the following musical genres to represent the song currently stuck in your head. As part of the same action, or as a bonus action on subsequent turns, you can channel the song through your movements, gaining a benefit depending on the song.
Heavy Metal: Once per turn, when you succeed on an attack roll, you may let out a roar. Creatures within 10 feet of you take thunder damage equal to half your barbarian level, rounded up.
Pop: You add your Charisma modifier to Strength based attack and damage rolls with melee weapons. Allied creatures within 10 feet of you gain this bonus as well.
Rock: You have advantage on saving throws against spells from the enchantment and illusion schools of magic. You have advantage on Wisdom (perception) checks to see through illusions.
Disco: Your movement speed increases by 15 and you ignore nonmagical difficult terrain.
Channelling these songs requires concentration (as if you were concentrating on a spell), though this concentration is maintained while raging. If you lose concentration, you must use your bonus action to regain the effect. The effect ends when you leave rage.
Bonus Proficiencies
3rd-level Song Stuck in My Head feature
You gain proficiency in the performance skill if you don't already have it. You also gain proficiency in a musical instrument of your choice.
Cacophonous Headspace
6th-level Song Stuck in My Head feature
A cacophony fills the surface level of your mind. You are immune to being charmed. In addition, any creature that attempts to read your mind or forge a telepathic link without your permission is bombarded by the cacophony. They must make a Wisdom Saving Throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). On a failure, the creature takes psychic damage equal to your barbarian level and has disadvantage on attack rolls for one minute.
Transcendent Symphony
10th-level Song Stuck in My Head feature
The Music has saturated your brain, reducing your vulnerability to psychic energies and allowing you to telepathically infect other people with the sound. You have resistance to psychic damage. When entering a rage, you can choose a number of creatures equal to your proficiency bonus; chosen creatures gain resistance to psychic damage for the duration of your rage.
Lord of the Dance
14th-level Song Stuck in My Head
The Music has split your mind, allowing you to move in contradictory fashions. When entering your rage, you choose two genres from your Eternal Music feature to channel, instead of one. Whenever you are forced to make a concentration check, you make a single check to maintain both effects.
