Base Class: Monk
The way of the Spider is a style that has its roots set into a hidden monk monestry that was established deep underground.
These monks learned to identify the powers that could be obtained from mimicking and incorporating the styles of animals into their combative techniques. This particular monestry called the "namatu alainkabut" was unfortunate enough to select the style of the spider. What is so unfortunate about this is that they did so whilst dwelling in the Underdark close to the heart of Lolth's temples.
Lolth took an interest and cursed the tribe to take on a more beastly nature in the hopes that they refer to the evil in their hearts and join her. The monks being a lonesome group, did not fall for these tricks and instead studied hard to utilise the benefits of this curse and have come a long way in the decades since.
Now the monks are but one of the few clans from the Underdark who are not so suceptable to the dark ways surrounding them.
This is a style that namely is set in the defensive style obtained from incorporating the patience and agility of the spider.
Enter the Spider
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use your ki to duplicate the effects of certain spells.
These spells manifest themselves in a web based form from your wrists such as webbing in the eyes to cast blindness or webbing caccooning someone in an affect to cast hold person.
As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to cast:
- hold person
- blindness
- web
Each spell costs an additional 1 ki point for each level higher the spell is cast at. The maximum number of ki points (2 plus any additional points) that you can spend on the spell equals half your monk level.
Additionally you can cast the following cantrips:
- (web pull) thorn whip with budgeoning damage
- web sling
Spider Sense
At 6th level, your keen reflexes allow you to escape most forms of danger or assaults, allowing you to retreat to safety.
You cannot be surprised.
Also the first melee attack of each creature attacking you is at disadvantage per round. Opportunity attacks are also at disadvantage.
True Spider
Starting at 11th level your body undergoes physical changes conforming to the curse placed upon your monestry.
You can now innately cast spider climb at will which manifests itself in the form of microscopic spider hooks extending from your palms, finger tips and soles of your feet.
Spider-Man
As your agility and spider like senses reach its zenith you are able to master your combat technique.
You are now able to cast haste on yourself up to a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier (minimum 1).
