Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Duelists are masters of defense with an analytical eye. They focus on keeping themselves safe while looking for openings to retaliate.

Analytical Eye

Becoming a Duelist grants you unique defensive abilities.

Swat: Any time an enemy rolls to hit you with an Opportunity Attack, you can also make an attack roll. If you roll higher than the enemy, the enemy misses.

Parry Stance: You can use your Bonus Action to enter a Parry Stance until the start of your next turn, which grants you +10ft of movement speed and causes enemies to roll Opportunity Attacks made against you with Disadvantage.

Retaliation

Retaliate: Any time an enemy misses you with a melee attack, you can make one melee attack against them at no cost. When you successfully repel an enemy’s attack with Swat, you must make a 2nd attack roll to Retaliate rather than using Swat’s attack roll.

Press Advantage: Any time you Retaliate and hit an enemy, you can choose to use your Reaction to press your advantage, dealing an extra 1d10 (1d12 at level 8) of weapon damage and applying one of the following effects of your choice:

Savage Retaliation: You can roll an extra 1d8 when rolling damage. This becomes 2d8 at level 8.

Crippling Retaliation: You can reduce the enemy’s movement speed on their next turn to 15ft of walking.

Piercing Retaliation: Your attack ignores Resistances. If the enemy you hit has any temporary HP, you ignore it and directly hit their HP.

Overpower

Overpower: Once per Short Rest, when an enemy beats your Attack Roll for Swat, you can add +10 to your Attack Roll to try and turn it into a success. If your Retaliation right after using Overpower hits, you can use Press Advantage without using your Reaction for this attack.

Fade Slash

Fade Slash: You can replace one of your Attacks during your turn with a Fade Slash. This acts as a normal weapon attack, but you move 5ft in any direction as you do so, which does not consume any of your movement. Enemies are forced to make Opportunity Attacks against you when you Fade Slash away from them. This will not use their Reaction.

You can not use Fade Slash again until a round passes where you do not use it.

Cat-like Reflexes

Cat-like Reflexes: When an enemy misses you with any attack roll, you gain a +1 to your AC until the end of your next turn. This can stack twice.

In addition, three times per Long Rest, you can use Press Advantage without using your Reaction.

Duelist’s Eye

Duelist’s Eye: Any time an enemy makes a melee attack against you, you can choose to roll a Perception check against the enemy’s Deception. If you succeed, you may choose to cause the enemy’s attack to automatically miss. If you don’t miss your follow up Retaliation, it becomes a Critical Hit.

You may do this twice per Short Rest.
