Base Class: Wizard
In the old days, magic was treated with much more veneration and awe. Shamans, those who were able to draw on magic and control it, were treated like gods. Over time, respect for magic grew thin as it grew more and more popular. Soon enough, anybody could do magic - some young upstart wowing his friends with a Prestidigitation spell. Those who learn in the School of Shamans learn the way magic used to be cast - with rituals and respect. After all, in order to look towards the future, one must first look towards the past.
Ritual Caster
Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, you can pick a 1st-level ritual spell to inscribe into your spellbook. This spell does not have to be on the Wizard spell list, and can be drawn from any class's spell list. When copying a ritual spell into your spellbook, the gold cost and time it takes to copy the spell are halved.
Resourceful Ritual
Beginning at 2nd level, your study of ritual casting allowed you to discover work-arounds with spell components. When casting a ritual spell that has a material component, you can cast the spell with half of the material components, rounded up (if applicable). For example, if you were to cast Ceremony, you would only need 13 GP worth of powdered silver instead of 25.
Empowered Ritual
Starting at 6th level, you gain the ability to channel more power from your ritual spells. You can upcast a ritual spell to bolster its effects - if the spell has no written effects for upcasting, you may decide the effects at your DM's discretion. You can upcast a Ritual spell up to a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier. You regain all uses of this ability after taking a long rest.
Quick Ritual
Beginning at 10th level, you have learned how to efficiently cast your spells in less time. If you cast a ritual spell during combat, you can choose to speed up the casting of the ritual, casting the spell on your next turn. You spend your current turn concentrating on casting the spell. Rules for concentration apply to this ability - if you fail a Constitution saving throw upon being attacked, the spell fails; you also lose concentration on any other spells when using Quick Ritual.
You can use this ability once per long rest.
Ritual Expert
Starting at 14th level, you have learned how to create a ritual to cast any spell that you know. When doing this, the spell is treated as a ritual spell, taking longer to cast and not requiring a spell slot. Previous benefits to ritual spells afforded by School of Shamans still apply to the new ritual.
In order to cast a non-ritual spell as a ritual, you must first take 10 minutes to envision and write down the instructions necessary for the ritual into your spellbook. Once you create a ritual for a spell, you do not need to do it again unless your spellbook is lost or destroyed. You can use a short or long rest to do this if you wish. You can only select one spell at a time to cast as a ritual; you can change the spell out of combat or during a short or long rest. When selecting a spell that you have not converted into a ritual, you must first create a ritual for the spell before you can use this ability.
You can use Ritual Expert to create a new ritual or cast a non-ritual spell as a ritual once each per long rest.
