Bard
Base Class: Bard

Studying lore, a classic trope of bards around the multiverse. Their job is to determine why a great power came to be, or who slayed what beast. But, the far less question asked; is How? How did the dwarven strongholds fall? How do the Dragons physicality work? So many questions unasked, whisked aside with a belittling "Gods work in mysterious ways," or "Magic must be at the root of this." As a College of Function Bard, your biggest question to life is "What makes this... Function?"

A bard of this variety would commonly be seen around Gnome colonies, or a city's local Tinkerer. Perhaps you were a Quandrix Student at Strixhaven University, who has decided to push yourself further into your studies. Or an experimental Musician using complex spellcraft to weave crowds. Whatever your origin, the ever-burning question still lingers in your mind.

Enhanced Motivation

When you join the College of Function at 3rd level, you learn to increase effectiveness of your Bardic Inspiration. Allies you grant Bardic Inspiration no longer have an Active Time Limit to use their Inspiration, instead the Inspiration now lasts until the creature finished a Short or Long Rest.

You also gain proficiency in Tinker's Tools.

Functional Encouragement

Also at 3rd level, you gain the ability to further enhance you allies succession. When an ally within 60ft of you uses a Bardic Inspiration, you may use a reaction to add your Charisma Modifier to the dice roll. A creature can only benefit from the feature once per Short or Long Rest.

At level 14, this bonus increases to twice your Charisma Modifier.

Tuner

Also at 3rd level, you gain the ability to create a device to amplify your bardic spellcasting. After finishing a Short or Long rest, you can use a set of Tinker's Tools to forge a Tiny machine known as a Tuner. You can create a number of Tuners equal to your Charisma Modifier (minimum of 1.) The Tuner can be applied weapons or to spellcasting focus, while applied, the Tuner grants the following bonuses.

  • Ranged attacks now bypass 1/2 as well as 3/4 cover.
  • All creatures holding a Tuner within 300ft can telepathically speak with one another.

As a bonus action, a creature holding a Tuner can destroy it, upon doing so, it grants Advantage to the next ability check, attack roll, or saving throw it makes before the start of their next turn. A Tuner can also be destroyed by an enemy, the Tuner has an AC of 10 + your Charisma Modifier (minimum of 1,) and Hit Points equal to Charisma Modifier (minimum of 1.) If destroyed this way, the Tuner grants no benefits by being destroyed.

Arcane Recall

Beginning at 6th level, you begin to figure a spell's purpose before it is even cast. Upon seeing a spell, you may use a reaction to make mental notes of the spell's description. You may now add that spell to an Arcane Recall List, a spell on this list is known for 15 days, after that it is forgotten, (The Keen Mind Feat does not change this.) If you are targeted by a spell on your Arcane Recall List, you gain advantage to Saving Throws to resist the spell, or if it uses an Attack Roll, the attacker has disadvantage on the roll. The amount of spells you are allowed to Recall is equal to your Bard Level.

Ever-Burning Function

At 14th level, the power of your Tuner grows stronger. A weapon or spellcasting Focus equipped with a Tuner now gains a +2 to it's Attack Rolls, Damage, and Saving Throw DCs. Also, if a Tuner is destroyed, you as well as the creature holding it regain hit points equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration Die + your Charisma Modifier (minimum of 1.)
