Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

The Oath of Purple is not one sworn to a color, but to all that that color represents. Luxury, nobility, power, ambition. Purple has been an indicator of nobility across the multiverse, and those Paladins that swear the Oath of Purple embody the most royal of colors and all that it stands for. Known for being advisors and courtiers, purple paladins are often found in the many royal courts of the multiverse, though whether their presence there is for good or ill, only the paladin knows.

There are many who swear the Oath of Purple, for their own reasons as varied as there are beings in the multiverse. But no matter their reasons purple paladins often use their words just as much as their blades to accomplish their goals. From wise and experienced advisors to royalty across the land, guiding the whims of despots and dictators away from destructive ends to protect the common folk, to vindictive and vicious tyrants who pour poison into the ears of those they advise for their own personal gain, the Oath of Purple confers great power, it is up to the paladin to chose how they will use that power.

Tenets of Purple

A paladin who takes this oath has these tenets embroidered into their clothing with the finest purple silks, engraved into their armor and inlayed with crushed amethyst, or tattooed onto their forearm with purple ink.

The Power Unseen. The common folk believe that true power resides with a monarch, but a purple paladin knows better. it is the voices in a monarch's ear that hold true power. strive to advise and shape from the side. Do not take direct control, for then all you are is a target.

Decadent Display. There is no point in hoarding wealth and hiding it away. Success should be celebrated and visible for all to see.

Flame of Ambition. Remember  that there will always be greater heights to climb to, but take care to temper ambition with wisdom, for the greater the height, the harder the fall.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of Purple Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Oath of Purple Spells

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.

Brand of Purple. You can use your Channel Divinity to invoke the power and respect that the Oath of Purple has with courts across the multiverse. As an action, you can make one melee spell attack against a creature within range. On a hit, the creature is branded with a purple hand print, and for the next 10 minutes has disadvantage against being charmed or frightened by you, or against spells that would effect its thoughts or actions, such as suggestion or modify memory. In addition, if the creature is a sentient being, you can choose for the handprint to remain visible even if hidden by clothing or armor, and at the DM's discretion, monarchies and nobles might refuse to help the branded creature, out of respect or fear for the purple paladins. A remove curse or similar magic can erase the handprint from the effected creature.

Purple Smite. You can use your Channel Divinity to attack with dazzling color. On a hit with a melee attack you can force the target to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save the target takes an extra 2d4 psychic damage and is blinded for 1 minute. On a successful save the creature takes only half damage and is not blinded. The creature can repeat this saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the blindness on a success.

Aura of Majesty

Starting at 7th level you constantly radiate an aura of majesty and luxury which hide the secrets and machinations that go on behind the pretty exterior. So long as you are not incapacitated this aura extends out from you for 10 ft. in every direction and friendly creatures within your aura share its benefits.

Your aura protects your mind from outside influence. Your mind cannot be read nor your thoughts altered, and you have advantage on saving throws against compulsion spells such as command and suggestion.

At 18th level the range of this aura expands to 30 ft.

Puppeteer's Redirection

Starting at 15th level you have become a master of influence, both mundane and magical. Whenever a creature targets you with an Illusion or Enchantment spell they must first succeed on a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC. If they fail the spell is redirected back at them as if it had been cast by you. If the spell was a concentration spell, you must concentrate on it as normal.

Violet Advisor

At 20th level you gain the ability to harness raw undiluted regality. As a bonus action you become an Avatar of Purple, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • you embody the regal baring and dazzling sight of Purple, gaining advantage on all charisma checks.
  • you have honed your mind both in the arena of politics and on the battlefield, you gain +10 to all of your intelligence, wisdom, and charisma saving throws.
  • when you take the attack action on your turn, you can infuse one of your strikes with Purple Smite, without spending your Channel Divinity.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
