Oath of Oblivion

The Oath of Oblivion enables a paladin to accept and even embrace the final ultimate truth. That all matter and concensiousness will eventually succumb to entropy. They strive to teach others to accept this fate and they will defend and guide those who are yet to. They seek to do away with the fear of the universe's mortality.

TENETS OF DEVOTION

Though the exact words of the Oath of Oblivion vary, paladins of this oath share some version of these tenets.

Patience. Suicide is an escape, not an embrace. Recklessness spreads fear, not understanding. All creatures should, and be allowed to, live to completion when possible, regardless of how insignificant that life is. Provided they give others the same chance.

Discretion. Each life on it's journey will start differently and take twists and turns, and you must be willing to adapt if you seek to enlighten.

Compassion. Help those in dire need so that they may have the time and facilities to ponder the futility of existence. Only those who are not clinging to life will ever learn to let it go.

Responsibility. Not all minds are capable of comprehension, those lives that can't do not require protection. If a creative would seek to interfere with those that can comprehend, then they must be stopped, by violence as a last resort.

Immaterial. Material objects are nothing more than tools to help you spread acceptance. Do not dally in luxury, for it is a temporary distraction.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Sting of Reality - As a bonus action, you curse a creature you can see within 60ft using your Channel Divinity. The creature must make an Wisdom saving throw at your spell DC. If it fails, at the start of their turn, they take 1 psychic damage per level of the caster and you get half that amount (rounded up) as healing. The enemy will have to make Wisdom saving throws at the end of their turn, every turn, until they succeed or remain cursed.

You can end this effect on your turn as a free action. Or it stops immediately if you fall unconscious.

Embrace the Inevitable - As a bonus action, you reach into the mind of another creature you can see within 60ft and compel them to give up on existence, and drop their defenses, using your Channel Divinity. The creature must make an Intelligence saving throw at your spell DC. If the creature fails it's saving throw, it immediately gets -1 to both AC and saving throws, additionally all of it's resistances are removed (immunities remain) for the duration of this ability. The enemy must continue to make Intelligence saving throws at the end of their every turn until successful, or the ability will remain active.

You can end this effect on your turn as a free action. Or it stops immediately if you fall unconscious, or the target dies.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

As well as the acceptance and thaumaturgy cantrips.

Oath of Oblivion Spells

Aura of Apathy

Starting at 7th level, non-allied creatures within 20ft feel an intense malaise that lowers their motivation and willpower. They get -1 to AC, saving throws, skill checks and attack rolls then -2 to their damage rolls. Also a -5 ft to their movement speed. This aura effects all enemies currently in it, as well as those who started their turn in it.

Shared Fate

Starting at 15th level, those who hit you join in the suffering. Whenever a creature hits you with an attack, spell or cantrip, that creature takes psychic damage equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1) if you’re not incapacitated.

This ability only triggers for each individual attack, spell or cantrip. Not if a single action hit multiple times or has lingering effects (eg: magic missle or any kind of poison attack would only activate this effect once but eldritch blast would activate it for each beam targeting the paladin).

Embody The Emptiness

At 20th level, as an action, you can fully Embody The Emptiness of the eternal void for 5 minutes, or until you fail unconscious or choose to end it.

When activated you become an ethereal shadowy form of yourself which gives you resistance to all forms of damage and your Aura of Apathy affects are tripled.

Aura of Apathy stats change to: All non-friendly creatures within 60ft get -3 to AC, and saving throws, skill checks and attack rolls then -6 to their damage rolls and -15ft to their movement speed.
