Laser (CARN)

Laser fighters specialise in highly-accurate futuristic weaponry.

“Hokey magic tricks can never compare to the reliability of a good blaster at your hip. Shrieker here, she makes her shots, and that's enough.”

Laser Specialist

Starting when you take this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in firearms (DMG 267) if you don't have it already. You also gain the Archery fighting style. If you already have the Archery fighting style, you may choose an additional fighting style.

Dot Sight

Also when you take this archetype at 3rd level, after you make an attack against a creature with a futuristic firearm, you track the creature with a laser dot. Your laser dot lasts until the start of your next turn, until you lose sight of the target, or until the target moves within 5 feet of you. While your laser dot is trained on the target, attacks against it add your proficiency bonus to the attack rolls.

Improved Critical

Starting at 7th level, your weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20. Additionally, your range is doubled for firearms while you are aboard a spelljammer.

Burn Through Defenses

Beginning at 10th level, you can burn through enemy defenses as though they were paper. Enemies do not benefit from resistances to necrotic or radiant damage from your attacks, your attacks count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistances and immunities, and if a target has a damage threshold, you can ignore it. You deal an extra die of damage if you hit a creature that did not begin combat with resistance or immunity to the damage type of your attack. These bonuses apply to all weapons.

Superior Critical

Starting at 15th level, your weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 18-20. Additionally, you deal double damage to spelljammers.

Every Last Drop

Beginning at 18th level, your futuristic firearms never run out of shots while you wield them. You can also make one additional weapon attack when you take the attack action.
