The Way of the Dragon teaches pupils to harness the power and wisdom dragons. It focuses on the importance of the eternal struggle between Bahamut and Tiamat as a metaphor for coping with our own internal and external struggles. Training in the way of the dragon hones the disciple's body to harness the elemental nature of dragon-kin and to channel the powerful presence of the great wyrms.

Draconic Presence

3rd-level Way of the Dragon feature

Your training has prepared you to emulate the power of great dragons take on a more influential presence in society. You gain the following benefits:

  • If you can’t already, you learn to speak, read, and write Draconic.
  • Whenever you make a Charisma (Intimidation) or Charisma (Persuasion) check, you can roll your Martial Arts die and add it to the result.
  • You can spend 1 ki as a bonus action to channel the presence of either the chromatic or metallic dragon, giving yourself advantage on either Charisma (Intimidation) or Charisma (Persuasion) checks for 1 minute.

Metallic Harmony

3rd-level Way of the Dragon feature

As an action, you can spend 1 ki point to create a sense of harmony to a situation. Choose a number of creatures up to your proficiency bonus within 30 ft of you, they must make a Wisdom saving throw against your ki DC or be charmed by you for 1 hour. While charmed in this way the creature cannot attempt to harm another creature. The charm ends early if the creature takes damage. If a creature succeeds on the save (or they are immune to charm) they are not aware of your attempt to charm them, in addition they have disadvantage on attacks that target you until the end of your next turn.

Chromatic Ferocity

3rd-level Way of the Dragon feature

When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to deal extra damage equal to two rolls of your Martial Arts die. This damage can be fire, cold, lightning, acid or poison you choose when you use this feature. A target can only take this damage once per round.

Strength of the Dragon

6th-level Way of the Dragon feature

You can channel your ki to harness the strength of an ancient dragon. When you make an attack roll, ability check or saving throw using Strength you can spend 1 ki to add a bonus equal to one roll of your martial arts die to the result. You choose to add this bonus after the check or save is rolled but before you know the result.

Elemental Essence

11th-level Way of the Dragon feature

You can spend 1 hour meditating on the elemental nature of dragons, granting you resistance to one damage type of your choice of: acid, cold, fire, lightning or poison. This meditation can be part of a short or long rest.

In addition, whenever you spend ki points you can change your choice of elemental resistance.

Eternal Struggle

17th-level Way of the Dragon feature

Your mastery of draconic lore and wisdom allows you to channel your draconic powers more often. You can apply your Chromatic Ferocity to the same creature any number of times, and your Metallic Harmony no longer requires an action but can still only be used once per round.
