Base Class: Fighter
There's always been tales of gamblers who bet their lives on things, willing to take every single shot they can to gain way more than what they bargained for. People betting their life savings on a card game, people betting an education fund on a game of roulette… and then there's people like you. Choosing this archetype means you like to live life on the edge, wagering your life for an extra chance at hurting people deeper than normal. You're reckless, you're unhinged, and you live your life the fullest you can. After all, that's the only life you got. Might as well make it fun.
Gambling Man
A Roulette Ranger has their weapons of choice. Most Roulette Rangers stick to firearms, intricate mechanisms of which happen to be the most suited for games of chance like this, aiding in their unnatural luck. When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in firearms.
High-Stakes Shot
Also when you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you begin taking more risks on your attacks in favor of bigger rewards.
Before making an attack with a Ranged Weapon, you can choose to roll an extra damage die. If the damage die result is Even, apply the damage as normal, but if the result is Odd, apply it to yourself. This increases by 1 extra die at levels 7, 10, 15 and 18, up to a maximum of 5 extra dice. (Add the results together)
Life on the Edge
At 7th level, you apply these risks outside of combat, beginning to treat life as one game of chance. You gain proficiency in a gaming set of your choice, the Intimidation skill, and the Sleight of Hand skill.
Tools of the Trade
Also at 7th Level, you gain access to 1 of 6 items that help rig the odds in your favor, listed below. You gain 1 additional item at levels 10, 15 and 18.
Automatic Arcane Defibrilators
These magic pads link to your chest, making sure you stay alive from your own mistakes. Once per long rest, should you fall from your High Stakes Shot or other features, you automatically are revived with 1 HP, and immediately use your Second Wind.
Bolas of Binding
These steel balls are strapped together by steel wire, and are able to be fired from your weapon of choice in order to bind people down for easier shots later. You can expend one of your attacks to fire these Bolas, using the range of the weapon you fire it with. The attack target must make a Dexterity Save (DC being 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Dexterity modifier) or be stunned until your next turn.
Canister of “Re-Fizz”
Re-Fizz is a bubbly, grape flavored drink that is claimed to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul. As you pour the revitalizing liquid down your parched, desperado gullet, you feel revitalized. As if Brand New! Once Per Long Rest, you may use this feature to gain the benefits of a Short Rest by taking a minute break to drink the contents. The contents reappear after a long rest.
Eye of Fortune
This small magnifying glass is lined and designed like a roulette wheel. While it's on your person, after a Long Rest, you can roll Extra Damage Dice up to your Dexterity modifier and store the results. You may substitute any roll you make for your High Stakes Shot with one of these dice.
Pipe of Good Health
While Smoking may hurt your lungs, smoking this green, ornate pipe after a gunshot can save your life. When you take damage from your High Stakes Shot, You can expend your reaction to instead heal for that damage taken. If you are healed past your max HP with this feature, Any remaining HP becomes Temporary HP.
Raging Hand Saw
A rusted hand saw, stained with blood and made with oak wood and some of the finest and sharpest steel. Using this saw can cut off the barrel of your gun, ensuring that you deal maximum damage to whatever you hit. By using your reaction before you make a High Stakes Shot, you cut off the barrel of your ranged weapon (or otherwise thematically make it much more dangerous, good luck for anybody using a bow or anything like that). If the attack hits, apply maximum damage from the High Stakes Shot feature to the appropriate target based on the roll of the extra damage dice. The changes revert after the attack.
Lucky Streak
At 10th level, you start feeling a crazy high after making a High Stakes Shot, enhancing your nimbleness and overall capabilities due to a massive ego boost. When you end your turn after hitting an enemy with a High Stakes Shot, you gain advantage on Saving Throws and add your Proficiency Bonus to your Armor Class until the start of your next turn.
Bet on Black
Around this point in your gambling career, You expand your bets to include your monetary possessions. At 15th level, before making a High Stakes Shot, You can choose to bet up to 100 gold on the shot. For each 20 gold “bet” on the shot, roll one extra damage die. If the attack lands on the enemy, you gain double what you wagered back. If the attack lands on you, you lose double of what you wagered.
The Greatest Gambit
There are many legends that revolve around gamblers who bet it all. Some of them turned out awfully… but the ones who bet it all and one everything inspire you to do the same. At 18th level, you can bet everything on one attack! All your life, all your energy. It's all or nothing.
Once per day, when you roll extra damage dice for a High Stakes Shot, you can instead multiply the number of damage dice rolled by 3. You cannot use any of your other features on the same attack that you use The Greatest Gambit on.
