Training for years in the anatomy of your favoured enemy, you can now kill them in only a single hit, the longer you fight you adapt your fighting style until in this game of battle, the opponent was never even on the same playing field

Deathblow Spells

Also at 3rd level, you learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Deathblow Spells table. Each spell counts as a ranger spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of ranger spells you know, all designed to benefit the result of the deathblow.

Deathblow

At 3rd level, you are able to push through an enemy's defences and attempt to make a lethal strike if conditions are met. Once an enemy of Your DEX Modifier + (your ranger level) limit of 20 Challenge rating or lower reaches below half hit points, you may begin the Blade-lock:

  • In the blade-lock, each round, the challengers must roll a contested Dexterity Saving Throw, the winner gains a point
  • If you reach 5 points, you perform a deathblow, if the opponent reaches 5 points, the blade-lock ends and the enemy is given one action against you for no cost 
  • You have multiple options on deathblows:
   
Type Effect
Non-Lethal Forces the target to be dropped to 1 hit point and knocked prone
Brutalise Swing wildly without care for where you are striking removing two arms and one leg of the creature
Behead Removes one head off the creature
Heartstopper Finesse the blade to remove one heart or one brain from the creature
   
  • Here are the effects given at point distributions:

2 Your dexterity is reduced by 3 for the duration of the blade-lock
3 Your dexterity is reduced by 4 for the duration of the blade-lock
4 Your dexterity is reduced by 5 for the duration of the blade-lock
5 The Blade-lock ends
   
Player Points Effect
1 You get 1d4 inspiration on next roll
2 you get 1d6 inspiration on next roll
3 you get 1d10 inspiration on next roll
4 you get advantage on next roll

Perform the deathblow

Dynamo

At 7th level, you are able to take advantage over your enemies as they tire over battle.

  • On round 3, an enemy of your choice's movement is reduced by 10ft
  • On round 5, an enemy of your choice acts as if on difficult terrain
  • On round 7, they act as if within the boundaries of the spell spike growth
  • On round 10, every round that passes you gain a 1d6 bonus to damage

Trained Killer

At 11th level, you gain one more enemy class to add to your favoured enemy

Superior Deathblow

At 15th level, You can use the flow of combat to make a larger opening for a more potent deathblow

  • Brutalise now can cut off a maximum of 4 arms and 2 legs
  • Behead can now remove a maximum of 2 heads
  • Heart-stopper can now remove 2 hearts or 2 brains
