Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

Since the technological advancements of Etania, due to the discovery of Aetheric Dust, it's been harder to scrape a dishonest living in the seedy underbelly of the towns and cities of the kingdom than ever before. Criminals are nothing however, if not flexible, especially where the laws of the land are concerned. Then master thief Four-Fingered Freddy came to a sudden realisation: "What if I could simply be in two places at once?"

Those who have learned the Doppelganger technique can create a solid clone of themselves, which can be sent to commit the actual crimes, whilst our would-be criminal knocks back his fourth refreshing tankard of ale in the local tavern, the patrons of which can attest to his presence there all night long. Those who have gained a particular mastery over the technique can exact a more precise control over the clone, seeing what it sees, and even changing its outward visage. Plus, it's handy to have someone with you in a scrap who has your back, and surely you're the best person you can trust to do that, right?

Clone Of Shadow

At 3rd level, you gain the ability to create your Doppelganger clone with a bonus action, which is formed from your shadow. The clone is solid, and can interact with objects, it cannot target creatures with attacks however. When your clone is within 5ft of a target, they are able to provide you with sneak attack for the turn. The clone is an exact copy of you, and looks identical to you. You may only have one clone at a time, and it cannot move further than 200ft from you without fading from existence.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

The clone lasts for 10 minutes, at level 8 this increases to 1 hour, at level 15 this increases to 4 hours.

Fine Control

At 9th level, as an action, you can take control of your doppelganger's senses, at the cost of your own. You become unconscious, but are able to control the doppelganger, using your senses as if you were physically present in its location.

Also, whilst having a doppelganger summoned, you can use your action to detonate it in a blast of shadowy energy. All enemies within a 30ft sphere must make a dexterity saving throw, or take necrotic damage equal to the current sneak attack dice for your level. Once you have done this, you cannot summon another doppelganger until you complete a long rest.

Master Of Disguise

At 13th level, you learn the disguise self spell, and can cast it without expending a spell slot a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest. You can also spend a use of the spell in order to cast it on your Doppelganger.

Master Of Puppets

At 17th level, your mastery of the Doppelganger technique is strong enough to allow you to summon a second Doppelganger, which appears for a brief second in combat to hinder and confuse your foe. Once per turn, if you hit a target with your sneak attack, you can summon one of the following Doppelganger types, which performs one of the following actions, and then vanishes at the start of your next turn:

  • The Poisoner: Stabs the target in the back with a poisoned blade, creature must make a constitution saving throw, or be poisoned.
  • The Brute: Grabs the targets arms and pins them behind its back, creature must make a strength saving throw, or be restrained.
  • The Sweeper: Sweeps an opponent off of their feet, creature must make a dexterity saving throw or be knocked prone.

The DC for these techniques is equal to 8 + your dexterity modifier + your proficiency bonus.

Also, you can use an action in order to switch places with your Doppelganger while you are controlling its senses. You can do this so long as you are on the same plane of existence. You can only do this once per long rest.
