Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Rangers of this conclave are often confused with paladins or even celestials themselves, soaring the skies in short bursts of radiance and light, burning their enemies with searing retribution, as is done in the upper planes.

Some Celestial Envoys draw inspiration from the might and magic of celestials to fulfil their duties, while others come from a long tradition of religious duties, like mortal valkyries. Others, however, have simply spent too much time in the upper planes, and are now forever changed by its radiance.

Celestial Spells

You learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Celestial Spells table. Each spell counts as a ranger spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of ranger spells you know.

Celestial Herald

Beginning when you first choose this conclave at 3rd level, you learn Celestial if you don’t know it already.

In addition, you learn the light and thaumaturgy cantrips if you don’t know them already. They count as ranger spells for you, but they don’t count against your number of cantrips known.

Seraphin Strike

Also at 3rd level, you can temporarily harness the full power of angels. At the beginning of your turn, as long as you are in combat, you may manifest radiant wings from you back. Until the end of your turn, you shed bright light for 10 feet, dim light for an additional 10 feet, and you gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed.

Additionally, the first time you deal damage on your turn, you deal an additional 1d6 radiant damage. When you reach 11th level on this class, the damage increases to 1d8.

Celestial Aspects

Beginning at 7th level, you learn how to momentarily harness an aspect of a celestial's abilities. Choose from the options below as you activate this feature:

Celestial Impulse. As a bonus action on your turn, as long as you have a flying speed, you may move up to half your speed without provoking opportunity attacks, as long as you don’t touch the ground during that movement. This doesn’t count against your current walking speed.

Celestial Return. Once per long rest, if you’re reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead.

Celestial Dive. As a bonus action on your turn, as long as you’re flying more than 10 feet above the ground, you can dive to solid ground directly beneath you immediately. You take no falling damage, you provoke no opportunity attacks, and creatures within 5 feet of you when you land take radiant damage equal to your Wisdom modifier.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, gaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Retributive Radiance

By 11th level, your very existence is so suffused with celestial energy that attackers are burned by its presence. Whenever a creature deals damage to you, it takes 2d8 radiant damage and it must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, they subtract 1d4 from every attack roll they make until the end of your next turn. A creature can take this damage only once per turn.

Angelic Form

When you reach 15th level, as an action, you can transform into the shining image of an angelical guardian and warrior. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • You regain two uses of your Celestial Aspects feature. If this would cause you to go over your maximum uses, you instead gain additional temporary uses equal to the amount that would exceed your maximum. These temporary uses vanish when this feature ends.
  • You sprout radiant wings, granting you a flying speed of 60 feet and the ability to hover.
  • Your attacks deal an additional 1d8 radiant damage.
  • Creatures of your choice within 30 feet of you add 1d4 to their attack rolls, skill checks, and saving throws.

Once you use this feature twice, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
