Posted Dec 27, 2019Hi there! I have a player using this in a one-shot, and I did a little balancing. It's extremely powerful, especially for a level 3 character.
Changes I made for my game:
Needle Healing now takes 10 minutes and costs a Ki point.
The extra Ki point is an optional addition, but letting them give infinite healing with just 1 minute of work is...very strong. Outshines any healer class instantly.
Needle Strike now has a DC 13 CON save for all the effects, not just the first one. I mean really, a Stun with no save?
Never fear, the DC rises as you level up, so it is still useful when you're fighting Gods at level 15. I also set it that Non-humanoid creatures have resistance, and Constructs and Undead are immune. Cause how am I gonna Blood Poison the Iron Golem? It doesn't have blood. And try finding the acupressure points on a spider, gonna be possible, but more difficult, hence the "resistance" tag.
(Never fear, an upgrade to lvl 6 is that Constructs and Undead have resistance, but not immunity.
My one-shot only covers lvl 3-5 tops, so I didn't extend any changes, but for the most part the rest of it looked okay! Pretty strong, but not game-breakingly!
What are your thoughts to my changes? What were your reasonings behind having things the way you set them? Would you let a player use this class unedited in a game?
