Base Class: Bard
Unlike other bards, members of the College of Script prefer the written word to those spoken or sung. These bards are masters of the writing arts, whether that be poetry or prose. Bards of this college, while not instantly entertaining or impressive, provide a much needed escape through their writing, be it fact or fiction. In whatever capacity, Script bards are highly valued across the world.
Unlike most bards, Script bards generally dislike a direct spotlight. They prefer to be known for their writings, if at all. Some even take pen names, preferring complete anonymity. If you ask a Script bard to sing a song, you will be quickly discouraged. However, some of them do enjoy reading their poems or stories out loud.
Script bards can be found in many places, most often in intellectual institutions. Some record history, write novels or poetry, or even writing documents and letters for those who cannot. They can also be found teaching writing in some places, passing their gift onto others. More often than not, these bards are eager for adventure, seeking inspiration for their work.
Academic Bent
At 3rd level, your extensive reading and writing has provided you a more intellectual view of the world. From now on, you are able to use Intelligence as your spellcasting ability. In addition, you can now use a book as an arcane focus instead of a musical instrument.
You also have the option of using your Expertise feature to increase your proficiency in Calligrapher's Supplies.
Student of Non-Fiction
At 3rd level, you are able to use your knowledge obtained from books to fight better. When you hit a creature with a spell or attack, you are able to remember one of the creature's following attributes: AC, one type of speed, one ability score, damage resistances, damage immunities, damage vulnerabilities, special senses, spoken languages, or understood languages.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest. In addition, you are only able to use this ability once on any particular creature.
Student of Legend
At 14th level, you have become attuned to the essence of story. Once per long rest, you are able to cast Legend Lore without using a spell slot or material components. The information gained from the spell comes in the form of a book passage. The passage seems as though it were written for entertainment purposes, so it may be exaggerated or modified for effect.
Student of Improv
At 6th level, you are able to invent stories on the fly. You may expend a Bardic Inspiration die to produce one of the following effects:
- You may invent a story to give yourself or an ally advantage on a Deception check.
- You may tell stories about an ally's achievements to give them advantage on a Persuasion or Intimidation check.
- You may distract nearby creatures by telling a story, giving an ally advantage on a Stealth or Sleight of Hand check. In order to use this option, the creatures you are distracting must be able to understand you. In addition, this option does not work on creatures hostile to you or your allies.
- You may assist a fellow storyteller, giving them advantage on a Performance Check.
