Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Each time a Woad Barbarian enters battle, they are granted boons with which to aid in the slaughter of their foes, but they must also continuously prove their worth via blood tribute or else pay a heavy toll.

Woad Arts and Woad Sickness

Starting at 3rd Level, you learn 2 Woad battle arts which are painted upon your character's body. When you rage on your turn, you can choose to activate 1 of these Woads to augment your Rage with an extra ability or effect. If you are already raging at the start of your turn, you can switch the Woad you have activated as a Bonus Action.

Each time you gain a level in this class, you can swap one of your equipped Woads for a different one from the Woad Art feature list.

If you stop raging without having dealt damage to an enemy since the start of your Rage, the Woad Sickness effect is applied. When under the effect of Woad Sickness, you take a level of Exhaustion. Woad Sickness ends upon a short rest, or else can be lifted with a Lesser Restoration spell.

The following Woads are available to you. If a Woad has a level requirement, you cannot access it unless you have that many levels in this class:

Rage Cloaking. When you rage, a damaging aura extends in a 5ft radius from you. You must declare when this ability activates whether it will take the form of Fire; Frost; Lightning; Poison or Acid damage. The damage roll is 1 d6 (scaling to 2 d6 at 10th Level and 3 d6 at 14th Level). The target can roll a Constitution save (8 + Proficiency Bonus + your Barbarian Level) for half damage.

Thorn Skin. When you Rage, giant thorns push out from beneath your skin. You take 1 d6 Piercing damage unless you succeed in a Constitution save (8 + Proficiency Bonus + your Barbarian Level) for no damage. While the ability is active, any enemy within 5ft of you will take 2 d6 Piercing damage.

Weapon Cloaking. While raging, you weapon is imbued with an additional damage affect. You must declare when the ability activates whether this takes the form of Fire; Frost; Lightning; Poison; or Acid damage. This adds an additional d6 (or 2 d6 on a Crit) of damage to your weapon attacks.

Class Levels

Each time you gain a level in this class, you can swap one of your Woads for a different one from the Woad Art feature list.

Additional Woad Arts

At 6th Level, you gain access to these additional Woad Arts:

Blood Channelling (lvl 6). If you are hit during your Rage you have the option to take full damage instead of the usual half damage, in order to grant 1 d12 temporary hit points to an ally you can see.

Fae Illusion (lvl 6). While raging, you are under the effect of the Mirror Image spell until the end of your next turn.

Viper's Sense (lvl 6). While raging, you have Darkvision for 30ft (if you already have Darkvision as an active effect, its range is doubled) and have advantage on Perception checks in magical darkness.

Additional Woad Arts

At 10th Level you gain access to the following Woad Arts:

Blood Frenzy (lvl 10). When you Crit while raging, you gain an extra attack as a Free Action against any enemy within your attack range.

Terrible Presence (lvl 10). When you Rage, all enemies within a 15ft radius must succeed in a Charisma save (8 + Proficiency Bonus + your Barbarian Level) or else be Frightened of you until your Rage ends. All enemies under this effect can attempt to save again at the end of their turn.

Wild Call (lvl 10). When you Rage, any Beast or Fey creature within a 30ft radius must make a Charisma save (8 + Proficiency Bonus + your Barbarian Level). All creatures that fail are under the effect of the Command spell (taken as a Bonus Action on your turn) until the end of your next turn.

Additional Woad Arts

At 14th Level, you gain access to the following Woad Arts:

Crippling Strike (lvl 14). When you hit an enemy, they must succeed in a Constitution save (8 + Proficiency Bonus + your Barbarian Level) or else be under the effect of the Slow spell until the end of your next turn (they can attempt to save again at the end of their turn).

Doe's Swiftness (lvl 14). While raging, you are under the effect of the Haste spell until the end of your next turn.

Giant's Blood (lvl 14). While raging, you are under the effect of the Enlarge spell until the end of your next turn.
