They eschew brute force in favor of finesse, wielding their weapons with the precision and grace of a seasoned artist. Every strike is a stroke of the brush, every parry a masterpiece of defense. These fighters are not just warriors, but true artisans of combat, crafting their attacks with the skill and grace of a practiced hand

When selecting your Artful Technique feature, outlined below, you must choose the technique that corresponds with your level 1 Fighting Style feature. Optional Class Features for Fighting Style Options (Blind Fighting, Interception, Superior Technique, Thrown Weapon Fighting, and Unarmed Fighting) are not included *yet?* in this Homebrew.

Artful Techniques

(3rd Level Artful Assailant Feature):

Your fighting style improves through your unique training as you hone techniques into more of an art form, granting you additional benefits based on your selection:

Fighting Style Improvement
Archery You gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls you make with ranged weapons.
Defense While wearing armor, you no longer have disadvantage on stealth checks.
Dueling While wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls with that weapon.
Great Weapon Fighting On your turn, when you score a critical hit or reduce a creature to 0 hit points with a melee weapon, you can make an additional weapon attack as a bonus action. The weapon must have the two-handed or versatile property for you to gain this benefit.
Protection When a creature you can see attacks a target other than you that is within 5 feet of you, and you use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll as per the Protection fighting style, you may take half of the attack's damage should it still hit the target. You must be wielding a shield.
Two-Weapon Fighting You can use two-weapon fighting even when the one-handed weapons you are wielding aren't light.

 

Artful Techniques: Archery

You gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls you make with ranged weapons.

Artful Techniques: Defense

While wearing armor, you no longer have disadvantage on stealth checks.

Artful Techniques: Dueling

While wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls with that weapon.

Artful Techniques: Great Weapon Fighting

On your turn, when you score a critical hit or reduce a creature to 0 hit points with a melee weapon, you can make an additional weapon attack as a bonus action. The weapon must have the two-handed or versatile property for you to gain this benefit.

When a creature you can see attacks a target other than you that is within 5 feet of you, and you use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll as per the Protection fighting style, you may take half of the attack's damage should it still hit the target. You must be wielding a shield.

Artful Techniques: Two-Weapon Fighting

You can use two-weapon fighting even when the one-handed weapons you are wielding aren't light.

Agile Footwork

(7th Level Artful Assailant Feature): 

Your mastery of the flow of battle grants you unparalleled agility on the battlefield. You gain the following benefits:

  • Difficult terrain doesn't cost you extra movement.
  • When you use your Action Surge feature, your movement speed increases by 10 feet until the end of your turn.

Exquisite Methods

You've continued to develop the artistry of your chosen fighting style, providing you with even more benefits based on your selection:

Archery You can use your bonus action to make an additional ranged weapon attack.
Defense While you are wearing armor, you gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from non-magical weapons.
Dueling When you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can use your reaction to gain a +2 bonus to AC against that creature's attacks until the start of your next turn.
Great Weapon Fighting Once per turn, When you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can choose to knock the target prone if it is Large or smaller. That target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier)

(15th Level Artful Assailant feature):

You become a whirlwind of steel on the battlefield, striking with unparalleled precision, skill, and speed. When you use your Action Surge feature, you can make one additional weapon attack as part of each Attack action you take on your turn.

Supreme Artistry

(18th Level Artful Assailant feature):

At 18th level, you attain mastery over the art of your chosen combat style, and the battlefield has become your canvas. You gain the following benefits:

  • Your movement speed increases by 10 feet. 
  • You gain advantage on Dexterity saving throws.
  • You have advantage on opportunity attacks when a hostile creature that you can see moves out of your reach.
