Monk
Base Class: Monk

Students of the Sudden Storm learn to master the speed and power of a raging storm. Their movements are light as a cloud, their reflexes like lightning, and their strikes like a clap of thunder.

Disciple of the Storm

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn to speak, read, and write Primordial. Additionally, you gain proficiency in navigator's tools and vehicles (water).

Fist of the Storm

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain the ability to manipulate your ki to empower your strikes with the force of a storm. Once per turn, you may deal additional lightning damage to a creature you hit with an unarmed strike if you don't have disadvantage on the attack roll. The additional damage is equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die.

Additionally, when you score a critical hit with an unarmed strike against a creature that isn't incapacitated, that creature must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, you can push it up to 15 feet away from you.

At 11th level, the additional damage granted by this feature increases to two rolls of your Martial Arts die.

Like a Cloud

Starting at 6th level, whenever you make a Dexterity saving throw, you may use your reaction and spend 2 ki points to gain advantage on that roll. If you do and you succeed on that roll, you may fly up to 10 feet in any direction to an unoccupied space you can see. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.

Storm Sense

Beginning at 6th level, your acclimation to such treacherous storms has granted you the following benefits:

  • You always know when a storm is approaching your location and approximately from what direction it is approaching (you do not know how long the storm will take to reach you).
  • You may choose for water to not affect your skin or clothing. Whenever rain or a body of water would cause you to become wet, you may instead remain dry.
  • When in strong wind or precipitation conditions, you no longer suffer disadvantage on ability checks or attack rolls due to those conditions.

Claps and Bolts

At 11th level, you have nearly approached mastery of the storm, giving you the following benefits:

  • Ozonated Fists. Attack rolls you make with unarmed strikes against creatures made of metal or wearing metal armor have advantage, as the electric ki within you guides your fists.
  • Thunder Strike. You are able to project your potent ki through the air in a blast of energy. As an action, you can spend 3 ki points to send a blast of your ki forward through the air. Each creature in a 20-foot cone must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, they take thunder damage equal to four rolls of your Martial Arts die. On a successful save, they take half as much damage.

Additionally, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn, you may replace one of your attacks with a Thunder Strike, spending the ki points as normal.

Master of the Storm

Finally, at 17th level, you have fully mastered the storm. As a bonus action, you may envelop yourself in ki, granting you the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • You gaining a flying speed equal to your walking speed.
  • You gain immunity to lightning damage and thunder damage.
  • When you damage a target with an unarmed strike, you can change the damage type to lightning or thunder.
  • Whenever you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, that attack is a critical hit.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
