Base Class: Barbarian
This subclass focuses on ranged weapon attacks, a niche the barbarian very rarely fills. The abilities are designed to get momentum going from a distance and keeping it by having anything you do, including missing and standing still have at least minor benefits. It is also designed to have good synergies with some of the base classes abilities.
Draw Weight
At 3rd level, you’ve learned to take advantage of ranged weapons with great draw weight. When making a ranged weapon attack, you can use strength in the place of dexterity for attack and damage rolls. Additionally, you can use your ranged weapon attacks for any barbarian features that require a melee weapon attack. Firearms don’t benefit from any of this subclass’ features.
Fresh Wounds
At 3rd level, the damage you deal from afar has brutal effects on enemies. While raging, roll a d20 when you hit an enemy with a ranged weapon attack. On a 15 or below, reduce the enemy’s movement by 10. Otherwise, impose disadvantage on the enemy’s attacks until your next turn.
Warning Shot
Starting at 6th level, you take the initiative with a warning shot right into your enemy’s face. At the start of combat, you can make a free ranged weapon attack against an enemy lower in the initiative count than you.
Whenever you finish taking the attack action, you can use a reaction to deal psychic damage equal to your proficiency bonus to any creatures you missed with a ranged weapon attack this turn. A creature can only take this damage once per turn.
Rocksteady Draw
After reaching 10th level, you can use a bonus action while raging to have your ranged weapon attacks deal an additional 1 damage for every 10 feet of unused movement this turn. The amount of additional damage cannot surpass twice your proficiency bonus.
Through and Through
Upon reaching 14th level, your critical strikes are impressive enough to rip through flesh and bone. When you critically strike an enemy with a ranged weapon attack, the next enemy in a straight line behind them takes an amount equal to half the amount of damage dealt by the initial attack rounded up. If the target of the initial attack would die from the damage dealt, transfer any remaining damage to the second enemy. This ability’s range is limited to the short range of your ranged weapon and can only be triggered once per turn.
