Base Class: Druid
The Circle of the Fell Stars consists of druids who once belonged to a circle that studied the heavenly bodies and at one fateful moment had peered too deep into the starry cosmos. A single glimpse of fell starlight is all it took to alter the lives of these druids, filling their minds with maddening revelations of eldritch truths regarding life and it's origins that no creature was ever meant to know. At that point, the druid belongs to the Circle of the Fell Stars and is never the same, as they have discovered that all they once knew is nothing but a particulate of dust in the vast expanse of what the cosmos has for them.
These druids are able to draw upon the incomprehensible utterings of entities from the deep cosmos and the power of strange starlight. Rather than seeing such things as horrific and offensive to the natural world, the druid views them unapologetically as the true nature of the universe and embraces this truth wholeheartedly.
Since druids belonging to the Circle of the Fell Stars have an altered view of what is natural, their Wild Shape ability is also subject to the revelations received. Whenever you wish to use Wild Shape, you must roll a d12 to determine the success of the transformation. A roll of 1 to 11 is a success and the Wild Shape proceeds as normal. However, a roll of 12 is a failure, resulting in 12 points of psychic damage to yourself and your transformation is that of a mindless version of the creature you attempted to change into though covered in a mass of eyes and writhing tentacles.
The failure lasts for 1 minute and you are insane, unable to speak or to understand any language. In battle, when it is your turn, you attack the nearest creature to you but you must make a dice roll to determine whether it is the nearest friend or the nearest foe. An even roll is an attack on the nearest friend and an odd roll is an attack on the nearest enemy. At the end of 1 minute, the transformation ends and you fall prone with 1 point of exhaustion. The effect ends early if you are incapacitated, die, or are subjected to the Greater Restoration spell, though you still receive 1 point of exhaustion.
As a druid of this circle, your druidic powers may manifest as bizarre and dissonant in the natural world. You have an option to pick from or roll on the Druidic Manifestation's table to highlight this strangeness.
| d6 | Druidic Manifestations |
|---|---|
| 1 | Your spells leave a slimy, slightly acidic residue in the wake of their casting |
| 2 | strange light emits from your eyes, nose, and mouth as you cast your spells |
| 3 | milky white tentacles can be seen flickering out from your ears, nose, and mouth |
| 4 | your wild shapes have the wrong number of limbs, mouths, or eyes |
| 5 | you have luminous cilia that cover portions of your body |
| 6 | your arms and legs have multiple joints |
Vessel of Communion
At 2nd level, as you studied the cosmos, you created an object that enabled you to discover and map the stars found in deeper, stranger space. It is a Tiny object and can serve as a spellcasting focus for your druid spells. You determine its form by rolling on the Vessel of Communion table or by choosing one.
While holding this object, you have these benefits:
- You know the Guidance cantrip.
- You have the Fell Star Ray (Guiding Bolt variation) spell prepared. It counts as a druid spell for you, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can have prepared.
- You can cast Fell Star Ray without expending a spell slot. You can do so a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
If you lose the object, you can perform a 1-hour ceremony to magically create a replacement. This ceremony can be performed during a short or long rest, and it destroys the previous object.
| d6 | Vessel Form |
|---|---|
| 1 | A scroll filled with depictions of bizarre constellations |
| 2 | A stone tablet etched with symbols; expressions of incomprehensible whispers heard from the heavens |
| 3 | A brass spyglass with a series of magical lenses that detects strange starlight in the sky |
| 4 | A collection of esoteric astronomical documents bound in an ebony cover |
| 5 | A meteoric crystal that reveals glimpses of strange starlight when peering into it |
| 6 | A gold chalice embossed with imagery of otherworldly creatures, that when filled with water, the surface reflects stars not normally seen in the sky |
Circle Spells
At 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th level you gain access to the spells listed for that level in the Circle of the Fell Stars Spells table. Once you gain access to one of these spells, you always have it prepared, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. If you gain access to a spell that doesn't appear on the druid spell list, the spell is nonetheless a druid spell for you.
| Circle of the Fell Stars | |
|---|---|
| Druid Level | Circle Spells |
| 3rd | Astral Whispers, Space Distortion |
| 5th | Field of Convergence, Cosmic Shards |
| 7th | Formless Boon, Conjure Starry Being |
| 9th | Make Contact, Gaze of the Fell Stars |
Astral Union
You have the ability to draw upon the strange power of the fell stars to alter your form. As a bonus action, you can expend a use of your Wild Shape feature to take on a alien form, rather than transforming into a beast.
In an astral union you retain your game statistics but your body is altered into something otherworldly; your flesh becomes translucent blue, sprouting glowing cilia in patches across your body and your eyes shine with a bizarre starlight. This form sheds a 10-foot radius of dim light. The form lasts for 10 minutes. It ends early if you dismiss it (no action required), are incapacitated, die, or use this feature again.
Whenever you attain an astral union, choose which of the following attributes to manifest along with your new form; your choice gives you certain benefits while in the form:
The Glaring Presence. Bulbous yellow eyes of varying sizes emerge across the whole of your head and trail down your neck like tumorous growths. When you activate this form, and as a bonus action on your subsequent turns while it lasts, you can make a ranged spell attack, shooting a fell beam of starlight from one of your yellow eyes that targets one creature within 60 feet of you. On a hit, the attack deals radiant damage equal to 1d8 + your Wisdom modifier.
Scion of the Stars. Your limbs of flesh and bone are replaced with long, rubbery, milky white tentacles. Whenever you cast a spell using a spell slot that restores hit points to a creature, you or another creature within 30 feet of you can regain hit points equal to 1d8 + your Wisdom modifier.
Radiant Host. From your back grows a large iridescent mass of otherworldly brain matter, pulsing erratically with horrid light. When you make an Intelligence or a Wisdom check or a Constitution saving throw to maintain concentration on a spell, you can treat a roll of 9 or lower on the d20 as a 10.
Cosmic Augury
At 6th level, you learn to use your Vessel of Communion to grasp the whisperings of the cosmos. Whenever you finish a long rest, you can consult your Vessel of Communion for omens. When you do so, roll a die. Until you finish your next long rest, you gain access to a special reaction based on whether you rolled an even or an odd number on the die:
Weal (even). Whenever a creature you can see within 30 feet of you is about to make an attack roll, a saving throw, or an ability check, you can use your reaction to roll a d6 and add the number rolled to the total.
Woe (odd). Whenever a creature you can see within 30 feet of you is about to make an attack roll, a saving throw, or an ability check, you can use your reaction to roll a d6 and subtract the number rolled from the total.
You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Astral Ascendence
At 10th level, the manifestations of your Astral Union improve. The 1d8 of the Glaring Presence and the Scion of the Stars becomes 2d8, and while Radiant Host is active, you have a flying speed of 20 feet and can hover.
Moreover, while in Astral Union, at the start of each of your turns you can change which manifestation to alters your body.
Astral Oneness
At 14th level, while in Astral Union, you become partially incorporeal, giving you resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.

Posted Oct 25, 2024Haha it's published so it should be accessible! It's essentially just a reskin of Melf's Minute Meteors. All the spells are just reflavors of base spells, really!
