Base Class: Paladin
The Oath of Primal Preservation guides those who follow it to protect the primal ways of the world, before civilization took root and began corrupting those with power. Referred to as Savages by most, Ravagers by their peers, these paladins are granted blessings by primal beasts such as Tiamat or Bahamut.
Tenets of Primal Preservation
- Rip. Rip through any who dare to oppose you.
- Tear. Tear apart their will and sanctums.
- Shred. Shred their flesh from their bones until they are no more.
- Feast. Feast upon the remnants of those you slaughter.

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of Primal Preservations Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.
Beast Form. You can use your Channel Divinity to gain the blessings of beasts for the next 10 minutes. Choose two options from the following effects;
- Mammoth. You grow two large, curled tusks from your cheekbones. If you move at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with an attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a Strength saving throw equal to (8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, you can make one attack against it as a bonus action but do not gain your proficiency bonus on the attack.
- Dragon. Draconic scales cover parts of your body. Choose a type of dragon from the Draconic Ancestry table. You are considered to have that Ancestry while this effect is active.
- Wolf. Claws grow from your feet and hands. You may make a melee attack against another creature as if you were casting the Primal Savagery cantrip while this effect is active.
- Shark. Gills grow along the sides of your neck and you grow fins where your toes once were. Gain a swim speed of 50 feet and you are able to breathe underwater while this effect is active.
- Elk. Your legs transform into that of an elk. Your speed is 60 feet while this effect is active. Upon activating your Channel Divinity and choosing this effect, you take a free dash action.
- Eagle. You sprout eagle wings from your back. You gain a flying speed of 60 feet and can use your reaction to stop falling or negate fall damage for yourself while this effect is active.
Prowl. You have learned from the apex predators of old that ambush tactics are more effective than blunt force. You do not gain disadvantage on stealth from heavy armors. When making an attack roll against a creature from stealth, you can use a Channel Divinity to gain a +10 bonus. You can choose to do so after the roll but before knowing the result.
Apex Predator
Starting at 7th level, your primal fury emboldens your attacks. Whenever you make a melee attack against an enemy, if there is no other enemy within 5 feet of you, deal an additional 1d6 damage to that target.
Additionally, whenever a creature within 10 feet attempts to move away from you, you may use your reaction to move up to 10 feet and make an opportunity attack as if you had casted the Primal Savagery cantrip.
At 18th level, your bonus damage die increases to 1d10.
The Hunt
Starting at 15th level, you hunt with incredible prowess. Upon entering combat, designate on hostile creature within 120 feet of you as your Hunt. While you are hunting, gain 10 movement speed while moving in the direction of your Hunt. Any melee weapon attacks made against your Hunt gain a bonus to hit equal to half your proficiency bonus.
If your hunt dies by your own hand, you restore hit points equal to 2d8 + your Constitution modifier as you feast on their remains.
Primal Avatar
At 20th level, you have learned to harness true primal rage and ferocity, allowing you to turn into a Primal Avatar gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:
- Gain the benefits of all of your Channel Divinity forms at once.
- When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can make one additional attack with your Wolf form as part of that action.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
