Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

A rogue, a thug and a thief, the Highwayman has honed his skills with dirk and flintlock to devastating effect. Whether at range or in a melee, he is equally effective at dispatching his foes. Be it a grapeshot area-of-effect, or single target bleed, the Highwayman's skills focus solely on dealing damage in a variety of ways.

Dirk and Flintlock

Starting at 3rd level, you can wield a flintlock pistol or hand crossbow in one hand and a one-handed melee weapon in the other.

  • You gain proficiency in firearms and do not need a free hand to reload a pistol or hand crossbow.
  • When you use the Attack action and attack with a one handed weapon, you can use a bonus action to attack with a pistol or hand crossbow you are holding

Point Blank Shot

  • Being within 5 feet of a hostile creature doesn’t impose disadvantage on your ranged attack rolls.
  • Ranged weapon attacks made against a target within 5 feet of you trigger sneak attack (you may still only sneak attack once per turn).

Open Vein

Once per turn, when you hit a creature with a one-handed melee weapon that deals slashing damage, you may have that hit open a vicious, bleeding wound. In addition to the weapon's normal effects, if the target willingly moves 5 feet or more before the start of your next turn they suffer 1d8 slashing damage and the effect ends.

At Higher Levels. At 11th level, the melee attack deals an extra 1d8 slashing damage to the target on a hit, and the damage the target takes for moving increases to 2d8. Both damage rolls increase by 1d8 again at 17th level (3d8 and 4d8).

Grapeshot Blast

As an action, you fire a special shot from a pistol that hits all creatures in a 15 foot cone. Each creature in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw or take xd6 piercing damage where x is your sneak attack dice. Creatures that succeed the saving throw take half damage. Creatures behind at least half cover automatically succeed the saving throw. The DC for this saving throw is 8 + Dexterity modifier + Proficiency bonus. You may not apply sneak attack damage to a another weapon attack this turn. You may use this ability once per short or long rest.

Riposte

When you reach 17th level, you have developed supernatural reflexes and can quickly react to anything in combat. You can take a number of reactions per round equal to your Dexterity modifier. You gain the following additional benefits:

  • If you would make an attack as a part of a reaction, you may instead move 10 feet without provoking attacks of opportunity.
  • Whenever you take damage from a creature's attack, you may use a reaction to make a weapon attack against them.
  • Whenever a creature enters a space within 5 feet of you for the first time in a turn, you may make a weapon attack against them as a reaction.
  • If an ally you can see makes an attack of opportunity, you may use a reaction to make a weapon attack against the same target.
