Bard
Base Class: Bard

This subclass emphasizes a supportive role in a party, encouraging a mix of exploration, preparation, and team buffs. The College of Culinary Arts creates a fun and flavorful experience for a Bard who wants to add more than just music to the party's morale!

Most magical dishes prepared through this subclass cannot be used in combat as a bonus action. They are typically consumed during short rests, and their effects last for 1 hour or until expended.  If a meal or dish can be used in combat it will be included in the description of the recipe.

Culinary meals may require specific ingredients or magical herbs, which you may need to gather or purchase in order to cook. DMs may allow this to be part of a side quest or adventure.

Recipes can be learned and scribed within your magical cookbook similar to a wizard at the following costs.

Basic - 50gp

Exquisite - 250gp

Ultimate - 500gp

Ingredients listed are for inspirational purposes and can be modified by the DM to fit the theme or availability of ingredients.

Each dish can be prepared during a short rest and provides different effects based on the ingredients used.

Preparing Dishes: When you take a short rest, you can prepare a number of meals equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1). The dishes are consumed when you or a creature within 5 feet of you eats them.

  • Culinary Inspiration: When you use your Bardic Inspiration feature, you can choose to inspire a creature with your cooking instead of music or words. Choose 1 of 2 effects:
    • A creature that receives this Bardic Inspiration may consume one of your dishes as a bonus action on their turn but the duration of the effect is reduced to 1 minute.
    • A creature that receives this Bardic Inspiration may consume a normal liquid such as water or food item such as a ration and heal for 1d4 + your Charisma modifier.
