Base Class: Paladin
Oath of the Inquisitor
The Oath of the Inquisitor is a vow taken by those paladins who dedicate their lives to hunting down and eradicating evil that threatens their realm. These paladins serve as the vigilant protectors of the kingdom, combining their martial prowess with keen intellect and strategic cunning. They operate in the shadows, using stealth and guile to uncover and thwart their enemies. Yet, despite their secretive nature, Inquisitors are paragons of justice, guided by an unwavering commitment to protect the innocent and punish the wicked.
Paladins of the Oath of the Inquisitor are often leaders and tacticians, respected and feared in equal measure. They are known for their ability to strike from the shadows, their strategic acumen in battle, and their relentless pursuit of justice. These paladins harness their abilities to defend their realm and bring light to the darkest corners of the world.
Tenets of the Inquisitor
The tenets of the Oath of the Inquisitor focus on leadership, protection of the realm, and strategic cunning in the face of darkness.
- Protector of the Realms. Defend realms and its people from all threats, whether from within or without.
- Strategic Wisdom. Use intelligence and strategy to outwit your enemies and achieve victory.
- Unyielding Justice. Pursue justice relentlessly, and ensure that the guilty are brought to light and punished.
- Stealth and Guile. Sometimes, the shadows are your greatest allies. Use them wisely to protect and serve.
Channel Divinity
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.
-
Shadow Strike. As an action, you can use your Channel Divinity to strike from the shadows. Choose one creature within 60 feet of you. You become invisible until the end of your next turn or until you attack or cast a spell. Your next weapon attack against that creature has advantage, and if it hits, it deals additional radiant damage equal to your paladin level.
-
Noble Command. As a bonus action, you can use your Channel Divinity to issue a commanding presence. Choose up to three creatures within 30 feet of you that can see and hear you. Each target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by you for 1 minute. While charmed, a creature regards you as a trusted leader and ally.
Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.
3rd Disguise Self, Feather Fall
5th Pass without trace, Misty Step
9th Haste, Nondetection
13th Greater Invisibility, Locate Creature
17th Wall of Force, Seeming
Aura of Resolve
Starting at 7th level, you and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you can't be frightened while you are conscious. In addition, allies within this range have advantage on saving throws against being charmed. At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30
Superior Strategist
Starting at 15th level, your tactical acumen grants you and your allies an edge in battle. When you or an ally within 30 feet of you rolls initiative, you can use your reaction to allow that creature to roll with advantage. Additionally, when you use this feature, you and all allies within 30 feet of you can move up to half their speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
Inquisitor's Dominion
At 20th level, you can invoke the power and authority of the Inquisitor. Using your action, you undergo a transformation for 1 hour, gaining the following benefits:
- You gain a +2 bonus to AC.
- You emanate an aura of command in a 30-foot radius. Allies within this radius have advantage on attack rolls and saving throws.
- You can use your action to become invisible until the end of your next turn or until you attack or cast a spell. While invisible, you have advantage on attack rolls, and your attacks deal additional radiant damage equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).
- Once per turn, when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can force it to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it is frightened of you for 1 minute.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
