Base Class: Sorcerer
The weave is the driving force of creation and life. It is raw energy that flows through every living creature and drives the universe forward. Your innate magic comes from the life force of the world around you. You might have endured exposure to some form of raw magic or beyond the mysterious outer realms. Perhaps you were blessed by a powerful being or somewhere in your heritage was a family member who had great power. Maybe you are the reincarnation of a previous master of the weave. Or your magic could be a fluke of your birth, with no apparent cause or reason. However it came to be, your connection to the weave and the power it brings flows through you as your blood through your veins.
Manipulating the Weave
You lack the discipline of a practiced caster, instead relying on the raw power and intuition of manipulating magics around you. You require no verbal or somatic components to cast your spells. You gain spell slots at half speed and but your ability to manipulate the weave is unparalleled.
At sufficient levels in this class, your Sorcerer spells and cantrips are considered Channeled. Channeled spells can be cast without expending a spell slot, can be modified by Metamagic without expending sorcery points, and can be upcast to your highest level of Channeled spell at no cost. You lose all Sorcerer spell slots for spell levels that are considered Channeled.
You may use a reaction to learn spells that you can see, so long as they are of a spell level you can learn.
- At 2nd level in this class, your cantrips are Channeled.
- At 5th level in this class, your 1st level spells are Channeled.
- At 8th level in this class, your 2nd level spells are Channeled.
- At 11th level in this class, your 3rd level spells are Channeled.
- At 14th level in this class, your 4th level spells are Channeled
- At 17th level in this class, your 5th level spells are Channeled.
Channeled Defenses
You can use your reaction to focus the ambient magics into a defensive barrier. Any incoming damage is reduced by a flat value equal to your spellcasting modifier plus your proficiency bonus. This reduction applies to the full amount of incoming damage, before any other damage mitigation affects, such as resistances, are applied. This reduction is applied per hit taken. This effect lasts until the beginning of your next turn.
You can use this ability once per short rest. You can expend 2 sorcery points to use this ability again.
Knotting the Weave
By tying off weaves, you gain the ability to focus on more than one concentration spell at a time. For one sorcery point you may choose to cast a second concentration spell in addition to one you already have in use. For each additional spell you cast in this way, its duration is reduced to only last 1/10th of the original time.
As you gain power and experience, you are able to tie more intricate knots.
- At 9th level in this class, your knotted spells last 2/10ths of the original time.
- At 12th level in this class, your knotted spells last 3/10ths of the original time.
- At 15th level in this class, your knotted spells last 4/10ths of the original time.
- At 18th level in this class, your knotted spells last 1/2 of the original time.
Empowered Channeling
Starting at 14th level, you can increase the power of your Channeled spells and cantrips. This ability can be used a number of times equal to half of your Sorcerer level (rounded down) plus your proficiency bonus. This will refresh after a long rest.
- When you cast a Sorcerer cantrip or spell, you can apply an additional Metamagic to the spell.
- You may choose to apply the same Metamagic option to the original spell, which increases the factor of the effect. For example, Twinned Spell would instead create three total copies, and Distant Spell would multiply the range by 3.
You may also choose to Upcast that spell, casting it as though you used a higher-level spell slot, up to 9th level. For each Upcast level, you take 1d12 force damage immediately after you cast it. This damage ignores Resistance and Immunity and cannot be reduced in any way.
Channeled Aura
Starting at 18th level, your Channeled Defenses also affect allies within ten feet of you.
