Dragon Companion

3rd-Level Dragoon Feature

As an action, you can magically summon the drake that is bound to you. It appears in an unoccupied space of your choice within 30 feet of you.

The dragon is friendly to you and your companions, and it obeys your commands. See its game statistics in the accompanying Dragon Companion stat block. Whenever you summon the dragon, choose a damage type listed in its Draconic Essence trait. You can determine the cosmetic characteristics of the dragon, such as its color, its scale texture, or any visible effect of its Draconic Essence; your choice has no effect on its game statistics.

In combat it shares your initiative count and with yours. It can move and use its actions and reactions on its own, in addition you can command your dragon verbally or otherwise. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. If you are ever slain or reduced to 0 hp (in battle or otherwise), your dragon will focus on gaining vengeance and must attack whatever creature reduced you to 0 hp. Your dragon will also die after a number of hours equal to your Dragoon level, during which it will attempt to do everything in its power to return you to life. If your dragon companion is ever slain, the magical bond you share allows you to return it to life.

The dragon remains until it is reduced to 0 hit points, until you use this feature to summon the drake again, or until you die. Anything the dragon was wearing or carrying is left behind when the drake vanishes.

Once you summon the dragon, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher to summon it.
