Base Class: Bard
Disclaimer: This Bard subclass is build around a very specific, very low magic wild west aesthetic.
The College of Guns is a bard subclass that excels in leadership and combat support, utilizing tactical expertise and inspiring words rather than magic to aid allies and manipulate the battlefield in a Wild West setting.
Fighting Style
At 3rd level, you adopt a style of fighting as your specialty. Choose one of the following options. You can’t take a Fighting Style option more than once, even if something in the game lets you choose again.
Archery
You gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls you make with ranged weapons.
Dueling
When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.
Two-Weapon Fighting
When you engage in two-weapon fighting, you can add your ability modifier to the damage of the second attack.
Professional Aim
You gain expertise in sharpshooting techniques. At 6th level. You gain the following benefits:
-
Aimed Shot: When you take the Attack action and make an attack with a firearm with which you are proficient, you can choose to take a -5 penalty to the attack roll. If the attack hits, you add +10 to the attack’s damage.
-
Quick Reload: You can use a bonus action to reload a firearm you are proficient with.
Words of Courage
You can rally their allies with an inspiring speech. As an action, you can give a rousing speech that affects all allies within 30 feet of you. For the next minute, allies gain a bonus to their attack rolls and saving throws equal to your Charisma modifier. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
Frontiersman's Fortitude
At 6th level, you gain a deeper resilience from your experiences in the rugged frontier. You can add your Charisma modifier to your saving throws against being frightened or charmed. Additionally, when you finish a short or long rest, you can choose one of the following benefits:
- Steady Aim: You can focus your aim with precision. Your next ranged weapon attack with a firearm has advantage.
- Iron Will: You gain advantage on the next saving throw you make before the end of your next turn.
Drawing on your grit and determination honed in the Wild West, you fortify your mind against fear and charm, relying on your force of personality to resist such effects. Furthermore, your experience in the frontier allows you to momentarily enhance your accuracy or resolve, giving you a strategic edge in combat.
Inspiring Words
As a bonus action, you can use 1 of your bardic inspararion uses to bolster your allies. An ally within 60 feet who can hear you gains temporary hit points equal to 1d8 + your Charisma modifier. This increases to 2d8 at 5th level, 3d8 at 10th level, and 4d8 at 15th level. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
And you gain Proficiency with Firearms.
