Base Class: Fighter
The Oath of the Moonlit Blade represents a fighter who has mastered the arcane and elegant art of moonlit swordsmanship, inspired by the legendary Kokushibo from Demon Slayer. These warriors draw upon the mystical power of the moon, channeling its ethereal energy to enhance their combat prowess and inflict devastating necrotic damage upon their foes. With every swing of their blade, they embody the moon's dual nature of beauty and lethality. Fighters who take this oath possess a unique blend of precision, agility, and supernatural resilience, making them formidable opponents on the battlefield. Their connection to the moon grants them abilities to move gracefully through shadows, unleash powerful strikes imbued with necrotic energy, and protect themselves and their allies with lunar barriers.
Moonlit Precision
Your blade becomes a reflection of the moon’s elegance and lethality, allowing you to strike with unmatched precision:
- Moonlit Strike: When you take the Attack action and make a melee weapon attack with a longsword, katana, or any weapon that deals slashing damage, you can choose to deal an additional 1d6 necrotic damage. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
- Lunar Stance: You can use your bonus action to enter a Lunar Stance for 1 minute. While in this stance, you have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks and saving throws against being frightened or charmed.
Moon’s Embrace
Your connection to the moon grants you both offensive and defensive benefits:
- Moon’s Protection: When you are hit by an attack while wielding a melee weapon, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage by 1d10 + your Dexterity modifier + your fighter level. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
- Lunar Blade: Your weapon attacks gain the finesse property and deal an additional 1d8 necrotic damage. This damage increases to 2d8 if the attack is made under moonlight or in dim light.
Moonlit Dance
You become a master of both offense and defense, moving with the grace of a moonlit dancer:
- Moonlit Flourish: When you take the Attack action, you can use your bonus action to make a single melee weapon attack with advantage. If the attack hits, you can move up to half your speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
- Evasive Moon: You can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on an attack roll made against you if you are in dim light or darkness. You must be wielding a melee weapon to use this feature.
Eclipse Blade
Your mastery over moonlit swordsmanship reaches its zenith, allowing you to channel the full power of the moon:
- Eclipse Strike: When you take the Attack action, you can choose to make a single attack that deals an additional 3d8 necrotic damage. If the attack hits, you can force the target to make a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier). On a failed save, the target is blinded until the end of your next turn. This feature can be used once per long rest.
- Lunar Ward: As a reaction, you can create a barrier of moonlight that grants you and up to two allies within 10 feet of you temporary hit points equal to your fighter level + your Dexterity modifier. This feature can be used once per long rest.
Moon’s Sovereignty
You become a paragon of moonlit swordsmanship, commanding the full might of the moon:
- Celestial Cleave: When you make a melee weapon attack, you can choose to release a wave of necrotic energy in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in the cone must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier). On a failed save, a creature takes 6d10 necrotic damage and is knocked prone. On a successful save, the creature takes half damage and is not knocked prone. You can use this feature once per long rest.
- Moonlit Ascendancy: You gain the ability to teleport up to 30 feet as a bonus action, and you can make one melee weapon attack immediately after teleporting. If you hit a target with this attack, it must make a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier). On a failed save, the target is restrained by moonlit chains until the end of your next turn.
