Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

The world is a scary place, terrible things happen everywhere all the time. You are always on edge, afraid that something may be waiting for you just around the corner, something that for sure means you no good. This primal sensation urges you to act quicker and strike harder, others tremble just thinking what could make you so afraid.

Shivering Combatant

Beginning at 3rd level, when you enter your rage, choose a creature within 60 feet of you. You become frightened of that creature until you stop raging, and your rage ends if you stop being frightened of that creature. When you are frightened, you gain the following benefits if you aren't wearing heavy armor or wielding a shield:

  • You add your Wisdom modifier to attack rolls you make with weapons using Strength, and you add your proficiency bonus to the damage you deal with such attacks.
  • You cannot become charmed. If you were already charmed when you became frightened, the effects of being charmed are suppressed until you stop being frightened.
  • Your speed increases by 10 feet, and you have advantage on Wisdom saving throws.

Aura of Fear

Starting at 6th level, your fear becomes contagious. When you choose to attack recklessly while you are frightened, all hostile creatures within 10 feet of you must succeed a Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of you until the beginning of your next turn. The DC to resist this effect is 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier.

If a creature succeeds on its saving throw, it can't become frightened of you this way until you finish a long rest.

When you deal damage with a melee weapon attack that uses Strength, all creatures frightened of you within 30 feet of the target take 2d6 psychic damage, or half as much if you aren't frightened. This damage increases to 2d8 at 10th level, and to 2d10 at 14th level. A creature that is unaware of the attack takes no damage from this effect.

Fight or Flight

Beginning at 10th level, when you are subject to an effect that causes you to become frightened, you can use your reaction to do one of the following:

  • You begin raging without expending a use of rage. This rage lasts until you stop being frightened.
  • You move up to your speed, ignoring restrictions from being frightened. When you stop moving, you can make a melee weapon attack against a creature within reach of a weapon you're holding as part of the same reaction.
  • Choose a creature within 60 feet of you. That creature must succeed a Wisdom saving throw against your aura of fear save DC or become frightened of you until you stop being frightened.

True Terror

Starting at 14th level, creatures can't have advantage on saving throws against being frightened by you and must succeed two consecutive saving throws against your aura of fear before becoming immune to it. When you become frightened, you gain resistance to a type of damage you choose until the condition ends.
