Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Barbarians who walk the Path of Chaos Magic are infused with wild, unpredictable magic that surges through their veins. Unlike their more disciplined counterparts, these warriors thrive on the chaos that magic brings, letting it fuel their fury and guide their strikes. Each time they rage, they unleash a random magical effect, creating an aura of unpredictability that can heal allies, harm foes, or alter the very fabric of reality around them. As they grow stronger, these barbarians learn to control and harness this chaos, becoming formidable forces on the battlefield.

Choosing this path means embracing the wild and untamed aspects of magic. It involves rolling with the punches and turning the tides of battle with sheer, unbridled power. Whether it’s growing to immense size, summoning elemental fury, or creating barriers of mystical energy, barbarians on this path wield the raw force of magic with the strength of their rage.

Surge of Chaos

When you choose this path at 3rd level, the wild magic within you manifests in chaotic and unpredictable ways. Whenever you enter your rage, roll on the Chaos Surge table to determine the magical effect produced.

Chaos Surge Table (roll a d10):
1 Chaotic Growth: You grow one size larger for the duration of your rage. Your weapon attacks deal an additional 1d4 damage.
2 Elemental Fury: Choose a damage type: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder. Your weapon attacks deal an extra 1d6 damage of that type for the duration of your rage.
3 Mystic Barrier: You gain a +2 bonus to AC for the duration of your rage.
4 Chaotic Shield: You gain temporary hit points equal to 1d12 + your Barbarian level when you enter your rage.
5 Arcane Eruption: When you enter your rage, each creature within 10 feet of you takes 1d6 force damage and is forced back 10ft.
6 Wild Speed: Your walking speed increases by 20 feet, and you can take the Dash action as a bonus action while raging.
7 Arcane Flurry: You can make one additional weapon attack when you take the Attack action on your turn.
8 Chaotic Healing: You regain hit points equal to 1d6 + your Barbarian level when you begin your turn whilst raging.
9 Reflective Wrath: When a creature hits you with a melee attack, it takes force damage equal to half the damage dealt.
10 Arcane Resistance: You gain resistance to all damage except force damage for the duration of your rage.

Temporal Chaos

Starting at 6th level, the chaotic magic within you subtly alters the flow of time around you at all times, providing you with constant and unpredictable advantages in combat. You gain the following benefits:

- Quickened Reflexes:
The chaotic energy heightens your awareness and reaction time. You have advantage on initiative rolls, allowing you to often act first in combat and seize the momentum.
- Haste of Chaos: Your connection to the chaotic magic grants you enhanced speed. Your walking speed increases by 10 feet, making you faster and more agile on the battlefield, able to close distances quickly or evade danger more effectively.
- Disruptive Presence: The chaotic aura around you disrupts your enemies' attempts to control the battlefield. Enemies within 5 feet of you have disadvantage on opportunity attack rolls against you, making it easier for you to move freely in and out of combat without fear of reprisal.

These effects are a constant manifestation of the chaos magic within you, ensuring that you always have an unpredictable edge in any fight.

Temporal Echoes

At 10th level, the chaotic magic within you begins to create ripples in time, manifesting as echoes that affect your actions and those of your allies. You gain the following benefits:

  • Echoed Strikes: When you hit a creature with a melee attack, you can use your bonus action to make an additional melee attack against the same creature. This additional attack deals force damage equal to 1d8 + your Constitution modifier, increasing to 2d8 at 15th level and 3d8 at 20th level. This effect can occur once per turn, allowing you to capitalize on the chaotic echoes of your strikes.

  • Echoed Protection: When an ally within 30 feet of you is hit by an attack, you can use your reaction to grant them a bonus to their AC equal to your Constitution modifier until the start of their next turn. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. This temporal echo provides a fleeting shield, giving your allies a chance to avoid further harm.

These temporal echoes ensure that your presence in combat is always felt, providing you and your allies with enhanced offensive and defensive capabilities.

Chaos Unleashed

At 14th level, your mastery over chaos magic allows you to bend the fabric of reality itself to your will, unleashing chaotic energies in combat. For the duration of your rage, each time you take damage, roll a d6 and apply the following effect based on the result:

  Chaos Unleashed Table
1 You teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see.
2 You gain temporary hit points equal to half the damage taken.
3 You and the attacker swap positions.
4 The attacker is pushed back 10 feet and must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
5 All creatures within 10 feet of you (excluding you) must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 2d8 lightning damage.
6 Time warps around you, allowing you to take an additional action on your next turn.

These chaotic effects ensure that your presence in combat is always felt, adding a layer of unpredictability and making you a formidable and unpredictable force on the battlefield.
