Base Class: Bard
College of Sweets bards spend many years at prestigious schools throughout the Forgotten Realms learning all about the culinary arts and using their dedication to their craft to feed their friends and disrupt their enemies. These bards are the best to have on the battlefield, and even better to have as friends. Whether you need a sweet treat, an enemy unconscious, or a wedding planned with ease, College of Sweets bards are the perfect solution.
Bonus Proficiencies
When you join the College of Sweets:
- You gain proficiency with cook's utensils, and if you're already proficient with them then you double your proficiency bonus to checks made with them.
- You gain proficiency in Medicine checks, and you gain advantage on all checks you make to detect the quality and safety of food before you eat it.
- You learn the prestidigitation cantrip, and it doesn't count against the number of cantrips you can have prepared at a time.
Additionally you always have the following spells prepared and they don't count against the total number of spells you can have prepared:
- 1st: Detect Poison and Disease/ Goodberry
- 2nd: Enthrall/Aid
- 3rd: Haste/Create Food and Water
Well-fed Resting
At 3rd level, when a college of sweets bard uses their Song of Rest feature, they can choose to make a number of sweet treats equal to 2 + their Charisma modifier. Creatures who eat one of these sweet treats gain temporary hp equal to the bards level. While they have the temp hp they gain advantage on Charisma checks and saving throws because who can’t smile after having a sweet treat? Once the bard has used this feature, they can’t use it again until after they’ve taken a long rest.
Custard Infused Magic
Starting at 3rd level, all of your spells become infused with the sugary sweet taste of custard. All creatures take extra custard damage from your damaging cantrips. The extra damage is equal to the size of you bardic inspiration (d6 at 3rd, d8 at 5th, d10 at 10th, and a d12 at 15th).
Custard damage is a strange phenomenon, there are no creatures in all of the forgotten realms that can be resistant or immune to the damage type, making it the least resisted damage type in all of existence. However, custard damage can not kill a creature. If a source of custard damage would drop a creature to 0 hit points, they instead survive and fall unconscious. It is both the safest and most dangerous form of damage within the weave.
Sweet or Sour Spellcasting
When you cast a spell that deals damage to an enemy or heals an ally, you can choose to infuse the arcane effects with flavors of your choosing, either sweet or sour.
Sweet: You can infuse healing spells with a sweet flavor and give your allies a sugar rush. When you cast a spell that would restore hit points to an ally, you give them a +15ft bonus to their movement speed for 1 minute. If you cast a spell that targets multiple creatures, you can only enhance the healing for one of them. Additionally, the creature you heal in this way has the damage of their next attack turned into custard damage. Custard damage ignores all resistances and by passes all damage immunities.
Sour: You can infuse your harmful spells with a palate shrinking, sour taste. When you cast a spell that deals damage to a creature, you can change the damage type to custard damage. Custard damage can not be resisted in anyway and by passes all damage immunities, but can not kill creatures. If a creature is reduced to 0 hit points by a spell that deals custard damage, they instead become unconscious. Creatures unconscious in this way naturally wake up an hour later. When they wake up, they restore all the damage they took from the spell that made them go unconscious.
You can use both of these features once per long rest, but at later levels you can use it more often. Twice at 10th Level, Thrice at 14th level, a d Four(ice?) at 18th level.
Sweet or Sour Overdose
At 11th level your baking skills become incredibly refined, those who eat your sweets feel the effects with an even greater intensity.
Sweetness Overdose: Your natural baking talent gives your allies an extra edge in combat. While they are benefitting from the additional movement speed from the sweet spell casting feature, they can make one additional weapon attack or cast a spell as if it was affected by the twin spell sorcery meta magic. Making these attacks ends the sugar rush early, and the ally loses their extra movement speed.
Sour Overdose: Not everyone deserves to taste your exquisite baking, some deserve a mouthful of sour dough. When a creature is hit by a spell that is enhanced by your sour spell casting feature, they have their movement speed halved until the end of your next turn, as their blood sugar is lowered to a dangerous level. The creature can attempt to move its original movement speed by making a con save equal to your spell save dc, if they fail then they take custard damage equal to your class level. Upon a success they can move at their normal speed but can’t dash.
Bitter-Sweet Inspiration
When a creature within 60 feet of you casts a spell, you can use your reaction and use of your bardic inspiration to create an aroma of pure, sugary bliss. The creature must make a Constitution saving throw equal to your spell save DC + a roll of the bardic inspiration used. Upon a fail, the creature is overwhelmed by the sweet smell and loses focuses on the spell they are trying to cast causing it to fizzle and not work. If the creature fails the save by 10 or more, they instead fall unconscious until the end of your next turn or until they take damage, as the smell is so overwhelmingly sweet that they pass out. If the creature succeeds on the saving throw, it is able to ignore the scent and cast the spell at normal.
