Base Class: Monk
While some choose to attune their ki to the fiery radiance of the sun, others have become privy to the secrets of the moon - that of equal light and darkness, and the flow of energy between the two. In the Full Moon, Yin is represented - passive, contractive, and retractive - said to mend wounds, heal sickness, or even steal away curses. In the New Moon, Yang is represented - active, repelling, and expansive - said to invigorate the body, cause change, or expand the mind. Connecting the two, and represented by the Crescent Moon, is Wuji - ethereal and empty, it always returns them to one another.
Those who follow the way of the Moon-Blood tend to be Lycanthropes, Vampires, or other creatures of the night - or perhaps, simply a person who finds balance in the dim rays of the Moon. Followers of this path seek Truth, and further their Ideals, knowing a simple, universal law: The two need not oppose each other, and in fact compliment one another.
Lunar Soul
3rd-level Way of the Moon-Blood feature
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Nature and Medicine skills, and you gain proficiency with the herbalism kit. Additionally, you gain darkvision out to a range of 60 feet. If you already have darkvision from your race, its range increases by 30 feet.
Moonlit Arts
3rd-level Way of the Moon-Blood feature
Beginning at 3rd level, you have unlocked special ki techniques empowered by different aspects of the moon. You may spend a number of ki points to perform one of the following abilities:
- Full Moon: Your mystical touch can mend wounds. As an action, you can spend 1 ki point to touch a creature and restore a number of hit points equal to a roll of your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom modifier. When you use your Flurry of Blows, you can replace one of the unarmed strikes with a use of this feature without spending a ki point for the healing.
- Crescent Moon: You assault with fluid movements. When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to make one unarmed strike each against any number of creatures within 5 feet of you. When you hit a creature with one of these unarmed strikes, they must make a Dexterity saving throw against your ki save DC, or be knocked prone.
- New Moon: You use your ki to sear flesh. When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to deal extra radiant damage equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom modifier.
Ebb and Flow
6th-level way of the Moon-Blood feature
At 6th level, you have gained a better grasp on the shifting tides caused by the Moon, granting additional benefits when weaving your arts.
- Bright Stance: After performing Full Moon, you enter a resolute stance. The next time you use a monk ability, you may choose to emit a burst of gentle light, healing yourself and all allies within 10ft, equal to your Martial Arts die + Wisdom modifier + Proficiency bonus - after which the stance ends.
- Fluid Stance: After performing Crescent Moon, you enter a fluid stance. The next time you use a monk ability, you may choose to emit a shockwave that pushes any number of creatures within 10ft, outwards 10ft. Additionally, targets take Force damage equal to your Martial Arts Die, and if a creature is prone, they are unable to use reactions until the end of your next turn - after which the stance ends
- Dark Stance: After performing New Moon, you enter a shadowy stance. The next time you use a monk ability, you may choose to cloak yourself, turning Invisible and gaining an extra 15ft of movement until the end of your next turn, after which the stance ends.
Dancing under the Moonlight
11th-level Way of the Moon-Blood feature
At 11th level, your very movements seem to shimmer like a mirage as you effortlessly swap between stances. When you use Flurry of Blows, you may now replace each of the unarmed strikes with a use of one of your Moonlit Arts, without spending ki points. You may only use each of them once, however, and if you do not use a stance - it is quickly changed to the next.
Additionally, you gain advantage on Initiative rolls when exposed to moonlight.
Moon's Providence
17th-level Way of the Moon-Blood feature
At 17th level, you become fully charged with the combined radiance and darkness the moon embodies. As a bonus action, you may begin to shed dim light, or darkness (which can be seen through with darkvision) in a 30-foot radius. You may disable or restore light or darkness with another bonus action.
Additionally, while a creature is within this radius, your unarmed strikes deal extra 4d10 radiant (if in light) or necrotic (if in darkness) damage.
