Base Class: Fighter
Much like Draconic Bloodline sorcerers, you gain abilities from dragon blood in your ancestry; however, this powerful heritage manifests in martial abilities rather than magic. You can manifest various aspects of dragons, such as scales or wings, granting you incredible strength and durability; however, you've also inherited a dragon's temper. These manifestations become increasingly powerful to bring you ever closer to your ancestors, such as allowing you to channel the destructive energy of a dragon's breath into your weapons.
While Scale Knight fighters are often dragonborn, they can be of any race or alignment. They typically wear medium or heavy armor and adorn it with images or features of dragons, wyrms, and wyverns. Scale Knights are more likely to use larger weapons to showcase their strength and hit almost as hard as their namesake.
Furious Charge
3rd-level Scale Knight feature
Starting at 3rd level, you learn to harness your draconic heritage. Empowered by draconic magic and might, you can unleash a feral roar and recklessly charge at your opponent. As a bonus action, you move up to 10 feet and all melee weapon attack rolls using Strength you make until the start of your next turn are made with advantage. When you use this feature, all attack rolls made against you until the start of your next turn are made with advantage.
At levels 7, 10, and 15, your mastery over your inner dragon increases, providing additional bonuses when you use this ability.
Dragon Scales
7th-level Scale Knight feature
Starting at 7th level, you gain the ability to momentarily cover your body in dragon scales. When you take the Furious Charge bonus action, you gain resistance to a damage type of your choice until the start of your next turn. The damage type can be acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison.
Wyrm Shield
10th-level Scale Knight feature
Starting at 10th level, unleashing your dragon scales becomes instinctive. When you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Strength or Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw. You take full damage if you fail.
Dragonfire
10th-level Scale Knight feature
Starting at 10th level, you are able to manifest the power of dragon's breath through your weapons. When you take the Furious Charge bonus action, you may add 1d6 damage to all of your weapon attacks until the start of your next turn. The damage type matches the resistance gained from the Dragon Scales feature, which can be acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison.
This damage increases to 1d8 at level 18.
Wyrm Wings
15th-level Scale Knight feature
Starting at 15th level, you sprout large draconic wings. You gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed. The color of the wings may align with a particular dragon color or be completely unique to you.
Draconic Resilience
15th-level Scale Knight feature
Starting at 15th level, your body gains increased resiliency to the draconic energy that runs through your blood. You gain advantage to all saving throws made against all monsters with the creature type dragon, such as a breath weapon or frightening presence. In addition, when you take the Furious Charge bonus action, you gain immunity rather than resistance to the chosen damage type.
Inner Beast
18th-level Scale Knight feature
At 18th level, you connect directly to your ancestors and gain the ability to assume their form. You can use an action to change into an adult dragon as if by the True Polymorph spell. While in this form, you cannot use any legendary actions the creature possesses. This transformation lasts for up to 1 hour, after which you immediately return to your original form. You return to your original form early if you drop to 0 hit points or use a bonus action to do so. If you revert as a result of dropping to 0 hit points, any excess damage carries over to your original form. As long as the excess damage doesn’t reduce the you to 0 hit points, you aren't knocked unconscious. Once you use this feature, you immediately gain 1 level of exhaustion and cannot do so again until you finish a long rest.
